That is a sharp looking Spit, good work!
Nice!
Africa's landscape seems to improve with every week.
Of course, there were no USAAC Squadrons in the time period and area coverd by the TF 5.0 module, but we will include the option for players to use US markings on Online servers.
I know 15mm gunpods are not planned for historical reasons but i think it is a similar case as with the US markings, a nice to have.

The North African landscape didn't change. I see no reason that we can't run missions for any time period that involved the airplanes that are available. I think it's great seeing that USAAF scheme on the Spit, and I'm hoping to see some USAAF colors on the P-40's. Maybe even some Martlets from the Ranger! 31st Fighter Group Spitfires escorting some bomb carrying 57th Fighter Group Warhawks. Maybe even do a mission involving U.S. Navy Martlets against Vichy French D.520's during Torch! More mission possiblities if you include the Yanks. Looking forward to it.
Oh...and looking good, by the way!

First USAAC Squadrons in N Africa were deployed to the east of the El Alamein area... in October/November 1942.
El Alamein is not on this map. Also they were flying P-40F/Kittyhawk Mk II which had the Packard Merlin V-1650-1, very different performance.
Will need to wait till TF 6.0 for a chance to fly this aircraft.
The Martlet III was quite different from the Wildcats flying off the Ranger... different engine, two speed supercharger and four guns as well as no folding wings and no tailhook instead of Wildcat's two stage two speed supercharger with six guns, with folding wings and tailhook. Wildcat was a lot heavier.
We also don't have a carrier... will also need to wait till later.
But obviously players can do whatever they want... its a game.

Really?!?!?!?!?! Is this planned for a future update? carrier landings etc?
TFS 5.0. is already looking great, top respect to all involved.
With the landscape shown in the pics, landmarks may be few and far between, so I think that I might need to hone my instrument navigation!
Keep it up, can't wait for the release!
A neat old double whammy for today's news flashes, love it! Cheers for sharing Pat, and nice one Larry
The Kitty aint bad, but I still have to side with the epic old Spit
One thing I will say is that the massive scoop on the Vb trops really do grow on you.
You go through three different stages;
"Ew that thing is disgusting and completely ruins the look of a good Spit!"
"I suppose it isn't the worst looking thing in history."
And finally:
"Hmmm, ya know what, that's kinda groovy "
"First USAAC Squadrons in N Africa were deployed to the east of the El Alamein area... in October/November 1942."
Yes, I'm aware of that. It was the 57th. Hence their slogan, "First in the Blue." For those who don't know, "The Blue" is what the British forces nicknamed North Africa. But, as you said, It's a game. I'm not such a stickler for that kind of detail. I mean, I wouldn't fly a P-51D during a North African scenario, but the fact that the Martletts had different engines than the U.S. Navy's Wildcats wouldn't keep me from flying them. If some skinner does a U.S. paint job for the Martletts, I'll definately be setting up some quick dogfight missions against those Vichy Frenchies!

Larry and all, here are some neat pics of the aircraft from Air Group 4 and the USS Ranger on the OPs Torch Invasion of Port Lyautey. Take note of the first aircraft of the USAAC that was shot down, an interesting story:

I just read the description of 'Operation Pedestal' in Geoffrey Wellum's wonderful book.
It seems that even in 1942 there were Spitfire Vbs (with Vokes filter) and old De Havilland propellers. Were these the old ones we have on the Spit I in game? My goodness!
Anyway they had to be replaced by something he calls 'hydromatic airscrews' to be able to take off from the carrier.
Wich ones will we get with 5.0?

I already have some of those in my references, so there will no doubt be one or two in TF5.
This is a section from a WiP skin for the later version of that aircraft:
