Soviet Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, former head of Soviet Space program, first man to walk in Space and later a friend of Neil Armstrong, dead at 85.

He also commanded the Soviet side of the first US/Russian joint space mission... which led to further cooperation and eventually the creation of the International Space Station.
