I'm continuing my campaign for the Mustang.
Yesterday I flew a mission from the P-51D The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney campaign.

HOW FUCKING AWESOME THAT IS!

One of the advantages of the single campaign for DCS is the audio inserts with radio conversations of the crews and the ground controller. Also, the atmosphere is perfectly complemented by the effects of fires, which are visible at fairly long distances. Together with the beautiful flight model of the plane all this contributes to a strong immersion in the game.

In general, I liked it so much that I wanted to share the gameplay record. Even though I cut out the parts of the route where I was just flying straight through the Channel, the duration of the video was still more than one hour.

I cannot but mention the disadvantages of DCS.

Quite a few bugs/artefacts in the landscape geometry of Normandy. Sometimes the buggy landscape lighting and suddenly pops up clouds. The AI-operated flight model leaves much to be desired. Eyes are cut when AI planes often move unnaturally vertically without raising or lowering their nose.

The video clearly shows me trying unsuccessfully to find targets on the ground after AI have been reported that targets detected. That's why I have to give the radio commands to the AI to attack the targets and then chase them in the hope that they will lead me to the target. This trick generally works well, and as the campaign progresses, it works in about 8 out of 10 cases. But this problem only concerns the search for small ground targets like tanks, trucks, etc. When the enemy is in the sky, detecting the enemy is not a big problem. Even if you can't find it after the AI message you can just look at your 6 o’clock for few minutes and the enemy will definitely appear there

A few details about the campaign itself

Become a member of the most famous fighter unit of the USAAF, take part in escorting large bomber formations, support the ground troops after D-day, or engage the Luftwaffe over the snowy hills of the Ardennes. The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney is a semi-historical campaign for the P-51D Mustang. It follows the 352nd Fighter Group from May 1944 through the Normandy landings until Operation Bodenplatte in January 1945. This campaign has a plethora of details and Easter eggs to make you feel like a young American flyboy in the Army Air Forces in 1944.
Key Features:
• 14 semi-historical missions focusing on the 352nd Fighter Group
• A detailed background story, mission contexts, checklists and encounter reports
• Detailed briefings and briefing images, including separate PDF mission files
• Unique kneeboard graphics and checklists for each mission
• Hundreds of specially recorded voice-over messages and radio broadcasts
• Historically accurate custom skins
• A wide array of missions including fighter sweep, bomber escort, armed reconnaissance and ground attack.

MISSION BRIFING
Gentlemen, I’m sure you’ve all heard of the biggest amphibious assault in the history of warfare that took place yesterday morning. Thousands of Allied troops have begun landing on the beaches of Normandy in northern France at the start of a major offensive against the Germans. Thousands of paratroops and glider-borne troops have also been dropped behind enemy lines and the Allies are already said to have penetrated several miles inland. While we managed to get a foothold, the success of the invasion is still not guaranteed. We suspect Jerry to mount counterattacks to push us back into the Channel. You will fly a low-level armed reconnaissance patrol behind Utah and Omaha beach at 5,000 feet and destroy any enemy units you may encounter. Tanks, trucks, garrisons, anything with a black cross on it is a valid target. They mustn’t reach the frontline!
