    Multiplayer Test, Saturday, December 21st, 21:00 GMT

    Hello Everybody,

    after the four small updates we published this year, we would like to make another stress test with the current 4.57 version.

    ATAG has generously allowed us to use their Server for this purpose.

    So we ask everybody to please do us the favour of joining us on the

    ATAG Axis vs Allies Public Server

    on

    Saturday, December 21st, at 21:00 GMT

    To not only test, but to have some fun - if all goes well - we've prepared a very simple mission: Destroy three of the seven enemy's airfields and you've rolled the map.

    Cheers,
    Artist.

    The Mission Briefing:

    All aircrafts are available at all airfields.

    The red airfields are Manston, Hawkinge, Lympne, Littlestone, Wilmington, Eastchurch, and Rochester.

    The blue airfields are Oye-Plage, Coquelles, Marquise West, Boulogne Alprech, Sempy, Tramecourt, and Zutkerque.

    To win the map your side must take out three of the active seven opposite airfields.

    Five of the heaviest bombers must drop their payload to take out an airfield:
    - Five Ju 88 or He 111 for the blue side
    - Five Blenheims for the red side

    This is not historically correct (a Blenheim drops 598kg, a He 111 2,000kg), but for gameplay: Each side must successfully bring the same amount of bombers over the opposite airfields.

    As this is a for primarily for testing purposes, there's no Flak, no AI, no Chain Home / Freya, no Rearm/Refuel, there are no ATAG stats (outside the internal netstats), no ships, vehicles, or ground targets.

    The Purpose of the Test

    We want to find out the cause(s) of the crashes that happend at the previous ATAG events (at any number of players >100, 90, or 80) after quite a while into the missions. In fact, thanks to ATAG_Oskar, we might possibly maybe (cross your fingers!) have identified some (or all?).

    So we set the (at first) limit at 100 players.

    There's nothing special to test this time: Having as many player planes as possibly flying together is the whole test: Join, bomb, attack, defend, enjoy!

    I do not presume to speak for all members of the Bloated Blennie Brigade: However,
    Airfield Raids are right up our street I'm in with bombs on.

    If needs arise or numbers warrant, The Baron Von Schnarglepussen could adjust his schedule to attend.

    Should a pair of Italian H bombs be required to loosen RAF resolve

    Il Maggiore Snargletino can be counted on to appear as well.

    Top fun Artist! Always good to have a reason to get together!
    Does sound like hopefully the information is there to provide a fix for the main issues. Have fun tinkering!

    Sorry Snargle,
    I have to admit, I was the useless Spit you tried to save
    Unfourtunately my aim is not as good as I imagine it, the bullets just seem to fly off by themselves xD
    Luckily he didn't have cannons so I could take the hits, had been rolling with him for the past ten minutes or so as he was using slow speeds against me

    I promise I did try to hit him once you distracted him, someone got his radiator and he spun in, but that may well have been you

    I knew it. I always knew it!

    Remarks:
    - About 15 minutes after server start the server did not respond for about 15-30 seconds (no menu via tab, planes rocket-skying).
    - Later in the mission there was quite a lot of rubber-banding.
    - No issues with lags.

    Re: Multiplayer Test, Saturday, December 21st, 21:00 GMT

    A big thank you to everybody!

    Summary: The mission and server ran fine for 1 hour, 10 minutes with 70-90 players, then suddenly many players lost connection to the server (which did not crash) and the server disappeared from the server list. After a few minutes (~10) the still running server reappeared, some players were still flying on it and the others could re-join into the still ongoing mission (but not in their originally planes, which had (pilotless) crashlanded in the mean time.

    We have the logs and will analyze.

    Re: Multiplayer Test, Saturday, December 21st, 21:00 GMT

    I was one of those players who was mostly unaffected by the Server behaviour. I did not lose connection and flew on to successfully bomb Coquelles. I saw my bombs explode but because I had lost in-game chat and TAB 7-1........ I GOT NO SCORE!!! Damn and blast it!

    And, of course, that would have rolled the map for the Reds! Wouldn't it? Grrr! Ha ha!

    I then turned out to sea and returned to Lympne where I landed. By that time most people were respawning into the same map once more. (I also noticed that whilst the Server was having it's 'funny turn' I could not change crew position within my Blennie?)

    Thanks for the fun, Chaps! Salute!

    That means you had no percentage message on the top of the screen, right?

    I was crossing the channel towards Calais when things went sideways. None of the usual server messages about destruction, no Tab-7-1, no aircraft visible anywhere but I proceeded to Coquelle and saw my bombs explode on the runway, but no server '% destroyed' message appeared. Interestingly I did see another player sent a '<obj<red' request message, while players text messages shouldn't come if the server was totally crashed, i guessed, oddly head scratching. Good thing TF are getting closer to a solution: the big days out are simply awesome, thanks to all who participated today!

    Exactly right, Artist!

    I looked for a score but didn't see any and assumed the Server was 'out' as I dropped my bombs. I think it re-engaged about 7 or 8 minutes later, as I was just feet wet Dover. Salute!

    Everytime Blue gets close it crashes.
    Actually I think there is a script command that goes like this

    if ATAG_Noofy.isabout(ToFlipMap)
    {
    freeze server;
    wait 30 seconds;
    crash server;
    }

    Try to just add a series of /// before each line and it will probably fix it

    I think that is in your Conf.INI

    It's just before;

    if ATAG_Noofy.isabout(ToWinTigerMothMatch)
    {
    freeze controls;
    merge planes;
    mid air crash;
    }

    Are we to disable that too?

    Depending on if it is a moth match or not, I think the command might be moreso along the lines of Noofy_G50.isabout

    See that brings up if it is Noofy or the G50s....we might have to remove them from the sim
