possible possible registry tweak for windows build 1903/1909 -worked for me!

short and curlies is that that build 1903 disabled some fullscreen optimisations that this autorun puts back. Not sure if it will have the same effect on 1909 as im currently ignoring it in the hope it will just go away. Some reports state a line is missing from the registry in 1909 which is either a good thing or a tighening of an ms policy.

The difference for me was an increase overall of around 20fps on a system and configuration that was averaging 80-95 fps high and 40-65 fps low in dcs. Others have reported no effect at all. As usual most posts are vague so it could be a case of ymmv or possibly a case of pc illiteracy manifest in " it dont work I hate you I hateyou ihateyou" shitposts or a bit of both.

Back up your registry (if you can be ar5ed) and give it a whirl - no ill effects have been noted in the past 3 weeks. Its reported to have good effects on most games.

It got me back to be able to fly the F14 with bells and whistles if nothing else.

    Thanks, BOO.

Will run the Black Death track and see if there’s any benefit on my system.

    Stay tuned.

Re: possible possible registry tweak for windows build 1903/1909 -worked for me!

Update: on my modest system there was a 9% increase in avg frame rate when playing The Black Death trk before and after this registry tweak. Subjectively the clip seemed to run a bit smoother after the tweak had been done. For a simple download and install, this seems to be a worthwhile tweak.

As a creature of caution, I did make a restore point prior to downloading/installing this registry tweak. As it happens, the restore point was not needed.

    The Black Death track

    avg fps before tweak: 44
    avg fps after tweak: 48

Difference: +9% average frame rate increase over the track duration.

    Thanks, BOO and Mustang!

Yes, that was my understanding of the DCS thread and BOO’s post, Jack.

Altered OP to your link - Thanks Noofy!

To be clear also - I thnk this hack only puts back what has been lost previously - it doesnt magic up extra performance that was never there before - it just liberates it from Bill Gate's cellar.

TIR twichiness does seem to have improved especially in DCS.

The question is: why did they remove it?

I can hardly imagine their only goal is to piss people off. There should be a rational explanation...

Just tryed it for my Windows10. And got absolutely zero effect.

    What I did.
    1. Updated drivers, and reboot my PC.
    2. Run BLITZ, IL-2 1946 "TheBlackDeath" tracks and in DCS started A-10C Clod start mission on Causasus map and found point of view with smallest FPS. Got screenshots with results for all test.
    3. Applied this patch (.reg file) and reboot my PC.
    4. Did the same tests as described in pt 2.
    5. Compared results and did not see any changes.

My PC setup for now is:
    Intel Core i7 8700K 3.7Ghz, DDR4 16Gb 2666Mhz, Asus Prime Z370-A, ADATA XPG SX8200 240Gb (PCIe Gen3x4), RTX 2060 6Gb
    PC spec: Intel Core i7 8700K 3.7Ghz, DDR4 32Gb 2666Mhz, Asus Prime Z370-A, ADATA XPG SX8200 240Gb (PCIe Gen3x4), RTX 2060 6Gb
    Monitor: DELL P2717H (1920x1080:60Hz)
Joystick: Android smartphone MonectPC app (virtual joystick driver)
Hadtracker: Track IR 4 / No VR

    Hi BOO,

I tried your registry-change. Sadly no performance-increase for me.

    Specs: i5-6600K@4,4GHz, 32GB, RTX2080, UHD-Resolution on G-Sync-28", SSD for each Win and Game, Win10 1903

    Greets

Edit: Will mess with Game Mode and Fullscreen Optimation next...

I think i should underline the "possible" part Deffo a "your mileage may vary". For me it got me 15 fps back in dcs that id lost over the course of a few months. had it not i wouldnt have bothered to post it. I guess thats about as much as i can say really. I5 6600K at 4.6, 32MB RAM 3200 @2T, GTX1080 at 1080P (running DCS at 3580x1200 due to second monitor,) Build 1903.

No problem, I read already the comments in the forum links that it would not bring advantages to every rig. Regarding Game Mode and Fullscreen-Optimation: Variations here didn't made any difference for me...
