The twin installation of two Mg.81 machine guns is a vast improvement on the existing Mg.15. The armoured housings should give the gunner more protection as well as providing a better field of fire albeit at the cost of restricted vision. As far as I am aware the Ju.88A5 did not carry an extra gunner as the cockpit space was very cramped.

Beautiful work as usual gents many thanks.

You are correct Kashiide on closer look the two rear guns are still mg15s. It would seem that the mg 81 ( same caliber 7.92 as the mg15 but heavier fasting firing weapons) were fitted to later A models. I assumed the mg 81 automatically came with the armoured rear canopies. Possibly shortages of the upgraded mgs meant 15s had to be fitted.

    I see.........

    DUST!!
Always love effects, new and upgraded, a bit like getting a metal finish toy car and then getting working headlight put in it and indicators and then a chrome finish

Neat screenshots, also think I spy some ground texture advancements no?

    Re: TFS 5.0 Ju 88 A-5 of 2.LG2 1942

Ju-88A-4 had the MG-81's... we are not doing the A-4.

The A-5 which we are doing had the same twin rear gun arrangement and armoured glass, but the guns stayed as MG-15's... drum feed instead of belt feed as in the MG-81.

And you are right, there was no extra gunner on either the A-4 or A-5... only one gun could be fired at a time... the main advantage was a wider field of fire and the armoured glass protection.

We are doing the A-5 with the Jumo 211G engine, and the A-5-Late model which has the higher horsepower Jumo 211F engine... A-4 had Jumo 211J with intercooler.

The A-4 was theoretically in service from late 1940, but in fact the first versions had the older Jumo 211G engine because of the delay in the 211J coming into production... the 211G was no different in horsepower output than 211D version of the engine which powered the Ju-88A-1.

That meant those earlier versions of the Ju-88A-4 were actually heavier and slower than the A-1.

The later versions with the upgraded engine did not arrive until mid/late '41 and few of them made it to North Africa. More common were the A-5's.

For those reasons and the fact for us to do the more complex A-4 cockpit would throw our schedule out, we decided to simplify and go with the A-5 and A-5-Late with dual rear guns and the armoured glass, but with MG-15's instead of MG-81's as defensive weapons. The A-5-Late has very similar performance to the A-4, just not the MG-81's.

The A-4 will be included in TF 6.0 if we get there.

We are also of course, including a number of Ju-88C models, which were based on the A-1 and A-5/A-5-Late.

Good clip. I've never seen some of the gun cam footage before.

At 7.51 there doesn't seem to be much dust.

That's excellent news! I'd love to fly a Ju88 Heavy flighter version! I'd spend alot of time with her!
I've started to look into getting back to CloD again because one, I still don't have a GF, two, I thus have the time and three, I remember how great the community and simulation was and probably still is!
