Part of the reason I am so vacant at the moment (by which I mean absent from the server and forum ) is that I am spending a lot of my non existent free time moving furniture from the family home and either storing it at mine or taking bits to my mother’s new residence.
Last weekend I moved a load of furniture, and some other bits and bobs.
Then last night I opened up one of the small boxes I had brought home with assorted "treasures" and looked through it. odd collection of keepsakes basically including a half crown, some shells, and a couple of bits of metal.

Looks like junk... Highseas reaches over the desk and picks up a jeweller's loupe....
ohh... well that's quite interesting.

Let's grab a different loupe and see if that in the bottom right is a date....

It's hard to see in the shots, as the light plays weirdly on the non flat surface... but... it says 4 1939.
I assume it came via my mother's father. He rebuilt radar and radio equipment during the war years. He built the families first TV as it goes and being in Dulwich got good reception from Crystal Palace. anyway.
It's bloomin' tiny !!!
