i have an old lamp that a neighbour gave me about 40 years ago.
it was green... the shade of the inside of the raf planes.
and got badly over painted by me as a kid
its now stripped and ready for re-painting.
can anyone confirm if RAL 6019 is the correct shade?
presumably matt ?
and if anyone can recommend a heat proof primer and paint that would be great (spray cans prefereably !)

Have no idea what the RAL code is but it is 'Eau de Nil'. This was interior cockpit colour WW2.
This was used inside vehicle cabs and coaches in the RAF well into the 1970s when the vehicles were all owned by the MOD and painted RAF blue on the outside.
The fact that there was such a plentiful supply meant many sundry items also got a coat of 'Eau de Nil' including office walls.

Description
EAU DE NIL. A traditional single part Synthetic Coach Enamel paint, used in the cabs of most RAF specialist vehicles, including Fire Appliances, Land Rovers, airfield vehicles, tractors and lorries. Commonly called Cockpit Green this was the standard colour for the interior areas. It got the nickname of Cockpit Green from being used in the Older RAF aircraft (although this is a totally different shade). This name has stuck with us for all these years.
