    ‘My Hangar’ idea?

Is it possible for this sim to have a massive hangar with all our custom skinned planes in it?

Kinda like Need for Speed's 'My Garage' ?

I love the idea of being able to walk around a hangar and check out all the custom skins we've made.

    An aviation museum like setup.

Like many others, I have quite the arsenal of planes ready for display.

    Ideas?

That's a nice idea. I miss the museum feature in Jane's WWII Fighters where you could preview the aircraft in a museum setting before choosing your plane; with plaques showing vital aspects of each exhibit to guide you in your choice.

The Jane's WWII Fighters museum Hanger:

Hanger details revealed when you clicked on a plane:

    Museum information about each machine:

And I liked the atmosphere of the pre-mission briefing meetings.

    What great sim that was!!!

I absolutely love this idea..and miss these features that the older Sims had. The briefing hall in European air war that sounded like an assembly hall with random chatter in the background.. Or like when choosing a loadout it was in the Mechanic shop with tools clanking and welding arcs flashing. The loadout screen was on a black board. Little things like the museum and that kind of stuff built emersion into the Sim. Great Idea DRock.

..it would look something like this. There's one flaw in that story for me. Clod isn't the best at shading light. But the idea is interesting.

    Yes, Larry. That's great.

Maybe, Allied on one side, Axis on the other.

    Re: My Hangar idea?

I'm lovin' the ideas flowing here!
Not to worry too much about shading Larry, the shading isn't by any means deal breaking.
If there was a big concern with it however, why not just add a couple of coded lights on the hangar roof (turned on) add some of that lighting on a rainy day sort of thing.

I think Drock has an interesting idea with being able to walk around the planes too. Would possibly make the sim a little more personal.

Just throwing some ideas around, loving the hangar idea, every tiny detail like that can help draw the player further into the sim.

    Re: My Hangar idea?

The old sim developers of the 90s and early 2000's usually did a great job of design in their games, like sound/music, interface, mission briefs, etc. That was the real lacking element when the IL-2 series took over combat sims. The original developers had no interest (or skill) in working on any of those things. Cliffs has horribly basic, boring menus and in-game gui. And would it have been that difficult to pick something beyond the most basic font available? BoX does it better, but nothing like the detail something like WWII Fighters had.

Yes you can, You cannot control the width, but you can make the hanger as song as you want. It's under static buildings> British> Large Hanger A, Large Hanger B, Large Hanger C
