Message from Team Fusion: Work continues on TF 5.0

    Hello All

First of all, wanted to extend our best wishes to the community. Hope everyone is keeping safe and staying at home when that is being requested by the authorities.

Obviously this is a time of uncertainty and confusion.

Just to let the community know:

Team Fusion continues to work towards the release of TF 5.0.

Although clearly the current Covid 19 crisis will have an effect on our team members, barring some bad luck, we are currently on schedule and looking forward to completing the product.

good luck to your guys, may their search for toilet rolls and tissues be forever successful and not otherwise waste all that available coding time

We stockpiled lots of toilet paper many years ago.... because we generate so much codework, we use toilet paper to print the hard copies.

Every coder has a roll beside his desk to go into the printer.

Sometimes the code gets a little glitchy when a coder forgets and blows his nose.

Possibly a bit of a British thing at the moment, but...

    Susan's Rainbow.png

The school kids over here were/are drawing these and putting them in their windows.

My better half wanted to do the same so I knocked one up on the computer (it ain't just for flying!)

If you want - click, print and display in your own window!

Have as good a weekend as you can and all the best for your continued work.

    Stay Safe.

    Hi,

I'm new to this game and really excited about the upcoming release. Is there a list of features that will be included in the final product? I am especially interested in VR / Controller support and which planes will have clickable clockpits.

    Thanks!

List of aircraft can be seen here:

    https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic...s-50-aircraft/

VR will not be enabled for the release but we expect to add it within approx. 6-9 months.

All aircraft have clickable cockpits... for the important elements... 20-40+ controllable elements depending on the aircraft... but we do not provide click control for every single switch in a cockpit.

Thanks for your fast answer! That sounds really good. Will give it a try as soon as VR version is available.
Since you seem to work closely with the IL-2 team and they have excellent VR support, will you adapt their version or go for your own?

Cant wait! this is a great list.
Ive recently switched over to BOBP - but CLOD runs so much better on my computer and also has some visuals which I think are better than what is in the newer BOX engine.

No, they have a different game engine... to adapt to CoD requires an entirely new set of codework.

Oh, I see. Well then I hope they can manage the extra workload since VR support is a must have for me for a flight sim and I guess it's quite a bit of extra hours to support it. But this game has exactly the things I'm looking for.. theatre, time-frame, planes, clickable cockpit to an extent that is necessary but also not overdoing it, very nice graphics, etc etc. I'm hyped

If I remember correctly, BoX is the newer game, but (in contrary to common believe) uses and older engine.

You mean RoF was released successfully and earler than CLoD? Correct. Which engine is older? Well....we saw the first screens for CLoD in 2006......but it wasn't released until 2011.

    Disastrously if you recall.

Look, this is not about: this sim is better than the other or whatever.
I just wrote that to my knowledge the basic game engine of of BoX is older than that of Clod.
    That's all.

Re: Message from Team Fusion: Work continues on TF 5.0

Is the CloD engine not an improved version of the original IL2 engine? I would imagine it is given the many similarities in terms of UI and things like the mission editor. If that is the case the CloD engine would have its roots way back in 2000 ish when IL2 first came out.

I think it's fair to say that currently the BoX engine is probably more modern but that's to be expected considering it's had a full time dev team working on it constantly over the past 10 years or so rather than the intermittent work done by 1C Maddox with CloD and then the TF mod, now TFS.

TF is doing an amazing job though. CloD in it's 2011 state was wayyy worse than what we have now, a sim that can be compared on a fairly even level with BoX. Something the TF team can be proud of. I hope the community can see the results of all their work in the near future with a release of 5.0 soon enough.

Re: Message from Team Fusion: Work continues on TF 5.0

I have most of the current WW2 flight sims including BoX (all modules), DCS (a selection of WW2 and jet/helo), WOTR, A2A, War Thunder, etc. - not to mention the myriad of past WW2 (& WW1) air combat sims we all loved in their day. Over the years it’s represented a fair investment in software, peripherals, etc - which many here have done, too - and then some!

I’m certainly no authority on this, but each sim has its strong points AND areas that need a bit of work that undoubtedly other sims do better. I like ‘em all. There was a time when it seemed that WW2 flight combat sims were doomed for the dustbin...until an unknown Russian guy named Oleg Maddox came along and announced he was putting together a WW2 flight sim and asked us for our thoughts! We are now in The Golden Age of World War 2 Combat Air Sims. I say embrace it! If you can - buy them, install them, try them, visit their forums, and learn about them. And above all, respect them.
