Multiplayer Test on Saturday, April 4th, 20:00 GMT

    Hello Everybody,

after some preparation we'd like to make another Multiplayer Test using the current 4.57 version.

So we ask everybody to please do us the favour of joining us on

Saturday, April 4th, at 20:00 GMT

    Server: Team Fusion #3

    Teamspeak: ATAG's
    IP: 216.52.148.29, password: calais
channels Multiplayer Test - blue, Multiplayer Test - red

To not only test, but to have some fun - if all goes well - we've prepared a very simple mission:

    Blue's Attack

Blue bombers must destroy 3 red airfields within 2 hours. If they succeed, blue wins. If not, red wins.
(Details in the mission briefing below.)

    Cheers,
    Artist.

    Teamspeak:
    IP: 216.52.148.29
    password: calais
Channels: Multiplayer Test - blue, Multiplayer Test - red

    The Purpose of the Test

We want to find out the cause(s) of the crashes that happend at the previous ATAG events after quite a while into the missions. Last time, the server in fact did not crash at all, but just severed the network connections to many (but not all) players and later allowed them to reconnect into the still ongoing mission. There's nothing special to test beyond just being there: having as many player planes as possibly flying together is the whole test: Join, attack, defend, have fun!

    The Mission Briefing

    To win the map:

Blue must take out three red airfields within 2 hours. To take out an airfield, five of the heaviest bombers must drop their payload onto it (Five Ju 88 or He 111).

Red must prevent Blue from doing so.

All aircrafts are available at all airfields.
The red airfields are Manston, Hawkinge, Lympne, Littlestone, Wilmington, Eastchurch, and Rochester.
The blue airfields are Oye-Plage, Coquelles, Marquise West, Boulogne Alprech, Sempy, Tramecourt, and Zutkerque.

ATAG_Pattle will lead the blue attack!
ATAG_Snapper will lead the red defense!

As this is a for primarily for testing purposes, there's no Flak, no AI, no Chain Home / Freya, no Rearm/Refuel, no ships, vehicles, or ground targets.

Have just posted on the ATAG and TFS FB pages.

I look forward to leading the blues to glorious victory, and some 'may' say bragging rights, over Snapper.

And more importantly, the crash issues are identified and resolved. Thanks to those working behind the scenes to ID these issues when they come up.

    S!~

Looking forward to supporting Officer Pattle in his soon found glory-lol. Im sure to let some other Luftwaffe killers in on this- and hope to watch the Allies stumble about as they clamor for kills and position. Gauntlet thrown.... Until then - keep safe and sound.

Probably just needs a firmware update.

Some of these older Googles are little better than Netscape.

    Oh

Also open a DOS prompt and check you are running Internet 2.1 or better.

Just to avoid confusion, since we’ve had this before, and since many recently switched to summertime, 20:00 GMT is the reference, and GMT does not change!

So if you were on GMT+1 (i.e. 20:00 GMT was 21:00 for you), now with summertime you are on GMT+2 (i.e. 20:00 GMT is 22:00 for you), etc.

Hello Everybody who participated in this test!

Thank you so much for your help and time.

With your help we (in minute 37) could witness what made the server stop sending out data to the players (it did not crash, it just got 'silent'). We'll now investigate how this could happen and how we can fix it.

    Thank you again!

Just a special note of thanks to all my Red player team mates today. Sorry I couldn't get the flight assignment attachments up in Teamspeak but a big thanks to WOMike and Knight for sticking around afterward and getting the photo attachment process all figured out - we'll be good to go for the next time.

As it is, we got it sorted out verbally, but here is what I tried to present to everyone. Please don't show it to the Blue pilots, as I expect we'll use the exact, same, identical flight assignment for the next time. Shhhhhh!

Thanks to all for turning up today. 100 players - great stuff!

I am sure the information that the expected crash provided will help the guys sort the issue out.

Was great to see and hear so many people, I personally hadn't spoken to for a while.

Take it easy all, and stay healthy.

BTW Snapper, I couldn't see the attachments you mentioned.

    Or could I

We hope you get it sorted, the server felt smooth I had no stutters / micro pauses. Up until minute 37 when everyone nearby vanished and I entered what I call the twilight zone. It still took a good 5 minutes for the server to actually terminate the connection when on a normal crash it happens much quicker. Fingers crossed you've nabbed it.

We experienced the opposite: Lots of stutters and micro-freezes for the first 10 or so minutes, probably owing to custom skins being on and people connecting and spawning in large numbers. After that it smoothed out however until the server went tits up just as our Bf110s were bombing Ramsgate and we got the jump on a few Blenheims and Beaufighters over that same airfield.

Hmm, that bears checking out. A few days ago I had asked Artist if custom skins would be enabled for the stress test and he had said no - that it would be an unwanted additional factor in the data they would be examining. Did your squad have custom skins that other squad mates could actually see?
