After learning how to setup a dedicated server (you need to type Lancher64.exe -server, this info was hard to find) I would like to have it run on a seperate machine. The only machine I have becides my pc is a linux server.
I have already tried running it through wine but I probably really need to install a desktop interface for that to ever be possible to run. I'd rather not install a desktop on a server so if someone can tell me it really isn't possible then I won't have to do that and I can safe some time by giving up early.
Has anyone been able to run blitz or just the server within blitz on a linux machine (without the use of a full virtual machine)?
As Buzzsaw wrote: With a windows virtual guest it'll work, as the dedicated server runs as a console app on windows. I've tested successfully with 2GB RAM and 2 cores using vmware. Using virtualbox (free) with Windows 2010 as headless guest should work. You could rdp in for setup and administrate. But don't expect miracles in number of players.
