Thanks for sharing this, Nails. I was stuck in my home office waiting for a Zoom meeting that was delayed and found your video. What a great way to spend the time!

Thanks Nails for this posting. Laycock is a fabulous village for staging an event like this. I am a member of the UK based German army group that attended this event and has done so for a number of years and we have been made welcome by locals and visitors alike. Unfortunately after lurid and rediculous headlines in the Sun newspaper about ' Nazis parading around in historic English village' the organisers were spooked into banning German army reenactors from access to the village. So our group does not attend this event anymore. Thanks to the 'Lying, gutter press'.

    That’s a shame, Flak Boss.

In a related sense, last night I spent a very enjoyable 1/2 hour watching a YouTube video of “This Is Your Life” TV show honouring Douglas Bader. One of the invited guests was Adolf Galland, whom Grp Cptn Bader greeted very warmly. They shared an amusing story of Bader, as a POW and an invited guest to the St Omer airfield, sitting in a 109 under Galland’s close supervision, and Bader asking if he could fly the 109 “just around the airfield”. This request was denied, of course.

Not wishing to get political which is against forum rules, but just observing that in this instance two former enemies became friends in peacetime.

I met my wife on the stairs this morning.

We have met many times before. Stairs.... hall way... etc.

She is German and yet holds a Dutch passport.

We have been at war with each other for 20 years. And i'd love another 20.

Well done Seas. I have been married 48 years with two grown up kids and my wife is English and we still are at war with each other over things. Kiss and make up is the thing but don't feel you can't speak your mind as that is the route to misery.
