Great job but dismayed at overdone cockpit reflections...

TF - Just got the Blitz update and all looks great, but what on earth have you done to the cockpit reflections?!

They were perfect before, like satin. But see attached screenshot for the horrible glow you get now from some angles.

It's like there's an LED light in there at full power!

Please can you re-set to the old reflections?

Many thanks, and great job on the new version nonetheless!

Everything else is so good I am now repenting of such a blunt thread title and appearing ungrateful!

The new cockpit perspex does look beautifully "glassy" and we don't want to lose that, but perhaps just to dial back a bit on the most extreme reflections!

They were not perfect before. What we had so far was the impression that aircraft have no glass whatsoever.
It's not perfect as it is now but it's definitely better.

Especially because now the sun can really reflect on the glass, no need to cheat and add some random flash effect for a distant aircrafts.
The Hungarian pilots mentioned in their war diaries that many times they spot enemy aircrafts because of their shiny glass canopies.

Point taken fellas, and I do like the new "glassy" glass.

But a couple more shots just to show how it might be dialled back just a tad...

To me those last 2 shots look pretty realistic other than being perfectly circular. I imagine there had to be some give and take trying to create this, and using a circle as the base shape was probably the simplest least resource sapping method??? If this replaces the old blinking on and off reflections, then I would say this looks way better. You would hardly ever view the reflections up close like this in game, so if they look good from 10 times this distance then they should be good in combat. My 2¢ worth.

Slight bug perhaps related to the reflections as well is that when you roll inverted and look up at the canopy (down at the ground) you can see the sun continuing to reflect off the plexiglass at a lesser intensity even though the fuselage is blocking it. Not a gamebreaker though by any means

Hi Blade - Yes, I agree that flying the sim in combat this makes little difference.

However, I am an enthusiastic composer of screenshots and the effect can spoil a nice close-up shot - also a problem for movie-makers I imagine.

My screenshot at the top of this thread does look very weird with the current effect - previously under the same lighting conditions the glass looked fine. I must say though that under other lighting conditions the new glass does look very nice.

But I am sure TF will be able to find a nice compromise!

Yep, Duh! Being an avid screenshot taking person I didn't think of that. Some of my favorite shots are with sun reflection off of the cockpit. Nobody never accused me of not being dense!
