Desert Wings won't start

Anyone else having trouble getting the new DLC to start up? I finally got power and internet back up a week after the hurricane and eagerly waited for Desert Winds to download. I deleted my cache, verified integrity of files in Steam, and made sure Steam Overlay is off. Wen I try to start CLOD, the logo comes up in the middle of my screen showing IL 2 Sturmovik - Cliffs of Dover Blitz - Desert Wings Tobruk, but it never goes away. I let it sit for 20 minutes, thinking maybe it just took a long tome loading the first time, but nothing ever progresses past that. I never had any problems with Blitz, so I'm befuddled. Any suggestions?

I just noticed a little white window under the logo that says: FMOD Studio Error - ERR_OUTPUT_INIT and an OK button.

When I click on OK, the game then starts. I will try playing and see what happens.

I don't know where to enter or exit the beta program. As far as I know it downloaded 5.0 It shows Tobruk is installed.

When I spawn into the cockpit I get no plane...if I hit ALT-F2 for outside view it shows my pilot sitting in mid-air.
The little white error box shows up about 5 seconds after the CLOD logo.

Yes.
I just finished completely uninstalling CLOD and CLOD Blitz, went into the Steam directory and deleted the CLOD and Blitz folders, then reinstalled CLOD Blitz, but no change in result. I still get the little white window when I start the game.

I tried running a quick mission, there are no DLC aircraft available, and when I hit FLY with an existing aircraft I get this:

Looking at the first error you posted it seems like the audio system is having issues with your playback device.
Do you have another one you can switch to? also, maybe you need to update your audio driver.

Yes, that seems to be it. I uninstalled some unneeded audio stuff and it seems to be working now. Specifically I think uninstalling Voicemeeter did the trick. I may try to reinstall later, but first I have to try out this new stuff!

I did have trouble getting into the Team Fusion 3 server last night. I joined it once and flew around for a half hour or so, then exited the game to make some adjustments. Tried to get back into the server, and once joined to the server the game screen was inaccessible. Clicking in it made a big DING sound, and the only way to close the game was to drop to desktop and bring up Task Manager to kill the game from there. Blasto tried it and had the exact same problem, and we talked to people in-game and they said they were getting weird effects. Strange that a problem with the server would lock up the entire game!

Had the same thing happen to the DangerDogz server... restarted it, and it was fine again.
We need to try and monitor this closely...

Edit: Both TF3 and DD'servers just suffered the same issue.
I restarted DD server. And brought up another instance running BoB map/mission.
See what gives...

That usually means there's an error dialog hiding behind the window. A trick you can try to see it is hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL and then escape. This should minimize the game window and let you see the desktop (and the error dialog).
It would be useful for the team to know the error being "shown".

Good tip, thanks ... I had already been looking for that via Alt-Tab, but will try ctrl-alt-del next time...

That did not work - no dialog box shows up.

Did get a nice big log file with lots of errors ... now where to put it?

Edit: Made a new thread here: Connect to a server(5.0), any key/click gives Windows' default Beep. Client hung up.
