Joining ATAG Blitz server

I appear to be having problems joining the ATAG Allied and Axis Blitz server v5. I do not have the Tobruk update yet by the way. I can join ok if I am the only player on the server. Is it the case that if other players are on the server who have the Tobruk update mean that I am blocked from joining? If so do I have to purchase Tobruk to play multiplayer now?

Update. Just tried to join ATAG server again with no other player present and got this message. (Connect failed. Connection attempt to remote host failed. Reason: Application part tobruk 100 not present). Anybody have this problem?

I think u will find all servers are now running the Tobruk update (even the English channel map servers) so if u see a "server version doesn't match" message when u clik on the server u won't be able to join.

Edit: Looks like the TWC Training map is still available. Version 5 is a free update of Blitz so u will still need to let it update to that. But to fly Tobruk servers u will need to purchase Tobruk.

Looks like you need to buy Desert Wings - Tobruk to join a server hosting a mission based on the Tobruk map.

You should be good connecting to a server hosting any Cliffs Of Dover Blitz map - like the Channel map.

it's impossible to play dedicated servers (tobruk or channel map) if you don't buy desert wings. All use tobruk.100.

Note this difference:
1.- There are servers with Tobruk installed.
2.- There are missions with Tobruk content.

In the case of #1, you will get a warning before joining the server but, if is not a #2 case, you should be able to join and play.
If the mission contains any Tobruk content, then you will not be able to join and play.

Unfortunately I think the big red warning is going to continue causing a lot of confusion for people who don't have Desert Wings. Big red warnings on the server list are almost entirely associated with "You can't play this for reasons".

Is this something TFS could look into addressing so that it appears (and reads) in a less prohibitive manner, or is this something that server operators need to do?

Thanks guys for your replies and advice. Looks like I am going to have to save my pocket money and invest in Desert Wings to continue.

IMO it would make more sense to show this warning only in case #2, i.e. if the mission that's currently run actually uses the Tobruk content and not if the server in general owns the Tobruk DLC (which would be the case for most or all servers about currently anyways). Otherwise it's just a trial&error affair for Blitz fliers.

The ATAG server should still be running pure BLITZ missions most of the time.

We will check to make sure this is the situation.

If there is a problem with compatibility, then we will fix it.

The ATAG server currently alternates between missions that require DLC Tobruk and missions that do not.

"DangerDogz BoB All Welcome" seems to be running missions for players without DLC Tobruk.

The red text about the server hosting unknown content is just a warning, that the mission currently running might require a DLC that you do not have
