Hi Folks,
I was studying up on the Lotfe 7 and came across this excellent video. Possibly you have already seen it. It is a gyroscopically stabilized version Lotfe 7D but the rest of it looks the same as the earlier models. Note he mentions entering ground speed (he later describes same knob as airspeed so maybe misspoke) and trail into the knobs. We use TAS, maybe this is wrong as I thought the Lotfe allowed us to forget about ground speed which can vary a lot when you have a wind vector that isn't 0. Also it seems trail has to be looked up from empirical data according to bomb type. Also there is an offset that has to be entered in the Norden to account for the influence of wind on the bomb trajectory. Not mentioned in his discussion on the Lotfe, did the Lotfe compensate for this also? Maybe the interface with the autopilot did this? It seems that offset would have to come from empirical data as well. It's a loud critter when its running.
