Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

Next mission: Wed. 21.00 italian time (GMT+1)
Link to partecipate to the next mission: https://1drv.ms/x/s!AhnYV3MWzsceh17W...6Ru0X?e=kGNR5q

    Hi guys,
Thanks to the help of Italianwing on Wednesday evening on the Tuttovola server we are organizing a series of missions that recall the Battle of Britain.
The goal is to gather a fair number of players in order to organize an event that is coordinated for both factions. From what we have seen in the past, these nights can get extremely fun.
At the same time we like the idea of surrounding the player with an atmosphere that is as similar as possible to that of 1940.

We hope that our project will be picked up by an increasing number of players, so that we can recreate increasingly realistic and intriguing scenarios.

On CLoD we are still in its infancy and far from the standards reached on BoS, but with the help and enthusiasm of the community we hope to be able to create a series of missions that can rekindle the passion for this game in those who have been held back by many problems over the years.
Precisely for this reason we have made the decision to make the missions flyable even to those who do not have the Tobruk expansion. (To partecipate to the Tobruk event, look here: https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...ad.php?t=34399 )

In all likelihood the next appointment will be next Wednesday, 21.00 Italian time (GTM + 1)

Please, to facilitate the organization of the next mission and recieve the server password, join our Discord server.
I know somebody don't like/use it, but it's really complicated for me to remember to send everything to everybody!
(ask me for the invitation with Private Message)

Below is a short video of the first test carried out last week:

Thanks for hosting it yesterday. Had a lot of fun!

Looking forward to more missions like this. That huge engagement we had with 20+ fighters at once was really cool.

    Hi guyz

we heard of your event and kinda wanted to join it with other OBT but then realized it was password locked. Now I understand a bit better why.

if you plan to make it regularly, I'm pretty sure our squadron will be interrested to join in. We usually fly on monday and wednesday, so you could expect 6-8 pilots every weeks and we are looking for this type of historical event.

and Kintaro who flew with you yesterday regularly fly with us, I'm sure he will be happy to give us more info about next week.

    cheers

In the first mission, a German reconnaissance plane detected the position of a British convoy off Ramsgate.
It is clear what the next move of the Germans will be, just as it is certain that the British will be waiting for them.

    The battle is close

    Note:
*32sq took off from Biggin Hill to cover the convoy, so they were there before than others british flight. To avoid having to keep other players waiting on the ground, it was decided to start the 32sq from Manston.
**56sq (Hurricane) airfield North Weald was considered too far away, to avoid players risking losing the fight it was decided to move the 56sq to Gravesend.
***I/ZG26 (Bf110) airfield Yvrench was considered too far away, to avoid players risking losing the fight it was decided to move the I/ZG26 to St-Omer.

Communication will be in strictly Italian: we will tell you where/when to turn using "pizza pizza pizza" for right and "mamma Mia" for left...

Joking, we will do our best to speak something similar to English..

Re: Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

As far as I know the Hurricanes were all equipped with ROTOL propellors during the battle of Britain, the DH prop was only used in France.
Also, to my knowledge, all british planes used 100 oct fuel in mid 1940.

Not sure about the FBs, but I assume that the Brits needed every Hurricane as a fighter at this time, while fighter bombers were of rather low priority.

Starting March 1940, all received 100 oct and during the BoB all should have 100 oct according to Buzzsaw:

I can't wait to see one of these " Harricane rotolo " in flight...Are they recognisable because they continuosly roll or due to the toilet paper loaded on them? Are they equipped with Scottex guns? Do they bark at the moon too?

Re: Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

    A question:
Right now the mission is set with the historical number of bombers and half of the fighters (both side).
The amount of planes is ~80, everything seems to work ok with no lag (I spread them just a little to avoid to have a lot of action is a really small point of the map.)
Do you think is possible to double the fighters (recreating the right battle) without stressing to much server/player's pc?
The total amount will begin ~130..

Re: Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

    Update:

    - 56sq (Hurricane) airfield North Weald was considered too far away, to avoid players risking losing the fight it was decided to move the 56sq to Gravesend.
    - Germans AI will now communicate their position every TOT minutes, in this way players can coordinate their actions with them.
    - British pilots will recive communication from radar stations.
    - Some other correction:
    a) Convoy position has been corrected, the previous one was wrong.
    b) 32sq will depart from Biggin Hill, as in the real battle. [Just AI planes]
    c) Germans has just two spawn poit, they should be enough.
    d) AI spawn points have been changed to respect original routes.

Re: Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

    Update:

In game you will find AI communications.
For German -> you will be update about bombers position and their route, in this way will be easier to rejoin with them.
For British -> you will be update about others squadroon situation, this will allow you to coordinate your move with them.

    Pay attention:
Both side communication will use the callsign.
So, be sure to remember your callsign (and also the other squadroon too).
Just for British: "Sapper" is the Biggin Hill Contro Room. They will recive the radar information and tell to you what to do to intercept enemy's bombers.
Just for German: "Adler" is the callsign of bombers, so remember follow their indication to rejoin with them.

Please, if you are yet registered, proceed immediately, places are limited.

    Update:

In game you will find AI communications.
For German -> you will be update about bombers position and their route, in this way will be easier to rejoin with them.
Blue Flight Leader has the callsign: ADLER. Follow his orders.

For British -> you will be update about others squadroon situation, this will allow you to coordinate your move with them.
Red Flight Leader has the callsign: JACKO. Follow his orders.
Red "Chain Home" system: From your cockpit you will recive orders/advice from Biggin Hill's control room. Callsign: SAPPER.

    Pay attention:
Both side communication will use the callsign. How does they work?
The first name that you will read is the group called, the second name is the calling one.
So: "WAGON, Jacko: climb to 6 Angels and engage enemies." means that Jacko just said to Wagon to climb to 6.000 feet and engage the enemy formation.

So, be sure to remember your callsign to know what is your duty!

Re: Tuttovola wednesday night -> Battle of England 1940 (historical version)

I have created the historical skin for the Bf 110 pilots. It is based on the first Staffel of the ZG26 ( I./ZG26 in short ). The skin can be downloaded at the link below.
In addition, below, you will find a screenshoot who displays the parameters you have to set in the plane options to display the corret aircraft markings.
The skin, after downloading, must be instaled in your " Skins " folder ( Install it both in your " Documents " and " Main Game " " Skins " folders so to be sure to have it correctly displayed ) in the folder named " Bf 110 C-4/N ".
As Flight Leader I will keep the letter " A ".
Note that the use of the Swastica is only for historical purposes. Nor me, nor the organisers of the events supports, in any way or form, the Nazi party or the ideas of the men and soldiers belonging to it during the WW2 era.
War is terrible and it's utterly rejected, we must only strive for peace!

For the other pilots I suggest the following:

    - ITAF_Airone1989 = Letter " B "
    - ATAG_Noofy = Letter " C "
    - YR_Dan = Letter " D "

LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE SKIN: https://mega.nz/file/DtxUVQzA#HV1yU5...QFIpl5wrHzmDhA ( <-- Clicable link )

If this 4.2 MB skin takes too much time to upload/download or slows the server down, you can use the below version compressed to 322 KB. There won't be any noticeable graphic quality difference, and it will be much smoother on the server and the network

Here there are the historical aircraft skins for the Bf 109 E-3 for the aircraft of the I./JG3 and III./JG51.
The skins can be downloaded at the links provided below.
In addition, below, you will find a screenshoot who displays the parameters you have to set in the plane options to display the corret aircraft markings.

Again here are the same skins in a more compressed format in case the full HD version is too tough on the server...
