    New n00b to shoot at!

    Hello All,

I discovered you all on YouTube and do have Cliffs of Dover so would love to fly with you guys. I am an experienced flight Simmer having been flying for *redacted* years. I do have a passion for WW2 and Battle of Britain. In fact I still live in Battle of Britain country here in the South of England. I got it so bad that I joined the RAF in *redacted* and did Regular, Auxilairy then as an instructor with the cadet force. So I think you might guess who I prefer to fly for.

Perhaps a little on the strange side I love Blenheim IFs and Defiant Mk1s but I also love the classic Spitfires and Hurricanes. I hope to meet you all on a server sometime soon.

    Jester.

Re: New n00b to shoot at!

Ha ha.......hi, jester224! A big welcome to the ATAG Forum and servers! That was a great first post and my impression is you are going to fit in here like the proverbial glove! We all have similar stories to tell. I, too, discovered ATAG and this Forum through watching 'The Beginning of the End' on You Tube.....that's a film produced by our friends over at the Air Combat Group and worth googling if you haven't seen it. For me it was a game changer when I realised that all those aircraft were actually being controlled by people, who were somehow talking and cooperating together in the mission. It was something I'd been looking for all my life.

I spent part of my childhood on RAF Coltishall where the Spitfires and Hurricane that now make up the Babttle of Britain Memorial Flight were based. I use to lie in the long grass every weekend and wave at the pilots who, hoods pushed back, were preparing to take off. They always had time for a wave back! One afternoon, I was at home in our Married Quarter, burning toast, as all self respecting 12 year olds did after school, when I heard the sound of strange engines overhead. Rushing out, I was astonished...but thrilled..... to see three Heinkel 111's low over the house, obviously in the circuit to land. Little did I know but my dear old Dad in the Control Tower had just given them permission to land to refuel.

The whole fleet of spanish 'buchon' 109's, Heinkels, Spitfire and Hurricanes, plus the B25 Mitchell camera ship...cobbled togther from all parts of the world, had been out in the North Sea filming for the up coming 'Battle of Britain film. An epic that me and my mates couldn't wait to see! It was a beautiful day and they wanted to make the most of it but flying back to their base at Duxford would take too long and they would lose the light so they called up Coltishall to ask for permission to refuel there. Fortunately, Dad was able to say yes. He said everybody rushed into upper room of the Control Tower and stared towards the sea, where a huge fleet of aircraft could be seen, weaving and bobbing as they approached the airfield.

Dad said it was like 1940 all over again.......... but this time the invasion was friendly! Happy days....and one I've never forgotten!

Yes, do come and fly with us on multiplayer! We fly most evenings mostly from around 8pm/9pm GMT but often earlier. We have big events at the weekend where the servers are rammed with pilots and much mayhem and hilarity ensues. Never have so many died with such hilarity on their lips! Ha ha!

Check out our two servers: TFS3 Tobruk and Axis and Allies and when in game check out the Aircraft Flashcards that can be found under 'Extras...'Manuals.' There is also a new and excellent 'Getting Started and Trouble shooting Guide that might speed the learning process.

When flying on multiplayer we chat and cooperate using Team Speak3 or discord. There is information to be found on the Forum about these. It can be a bit daunting saying 'hello' for the first time on line but don't worry...we totally understand because we all remember our first time (cough, cough!) and we know exactly how you're feeling. Just wait for a natural break in the chat (try not to choose a moment when somebody is fighting for their life!) and say something like: 'Hi everybody..this is jester. This is my first time on line with you guys...just wanted to say 'hello.'...and the rest will just follow naturally. We are a very friendly and respectful community and as such this is a great place to be!

If you see me flying 'on line' don't hesitate to say 'hello' and if you need any help post here and we will try to help out. Good luck and we all look forward to flying with you! Salute!

Can't think of any 'Jester' jokes but welcome mate from a regular Blennie flyer. Greetings from 'Bomber Country up North' .

Vickers Wellington Mk1c. OJ-F P2517 'F for Freddie' of No.149 Squadron, star of 'Target for Tonight' directed by Harry Watt released in July 1941.

Freddy prepares for an air test prior to departure from Ford on ops with No.149 Squadron for a daring daylight attack on Marshalling Yards in Caen France 31\1|21. ATAG Operation Milk Run. Target destroyed. Six Wellingtons, One Blenheim together with
their Spitfire escort returned safely. One Wellington crashed on landing at Ford.
