    Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

I have been really enjoying flying the Wimpy,it's fantastic,it really is,hats off to you TFS for your wonderful masterpiece,it's a real credit to you guys.

I just have one question, are the 'Side Windows' operative ?........maybe it's just me and my bad key binding, but I can't get them to open/close.

I know it's not a game changer, and this request is very 'small potatoes',but,if they're not operative, are they likely to be in a future update ?....it would be really nice to have them operative if this is at all possible.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated, thank you

Afternoon Meaks. As far as I know the Wimpy side windows are not active in COD. I have the keyboard forward slash for opening side windows and having just tried it it doesn't work on the Wimpy.
    See you later.

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

Ahhh....thought this must have been the case, although I have had many senior moments recently,so thank you very much for confirming this Flak Boss, very much appreciated, and yes buddie,I'll see you later, looking forward to it already

@Team Fusion Solutions.....Big pity re the side windows non operation, maybe you could add their operation at a later date please ?.....if your reading this TFS,please refer to my pics in the first post to see that they slide back and forth......and that there is a two piece glass canopy which, when opened gives the effect of the 'butterfly' windows on the top,but then,I'm sure you're all aware of that are'nt you ?.....of course you are chaps.

This does look like a complex operation, being that we have the sliding side windows and then also the top canopy opening butterfly windows, which is why it was probably left as a non operative feature......but then if anyone can make it operable Team Fusion Solutions can.

Given this and of course,if you don't ask,you don't get.

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

Sorry if I have laboured on the point,re the 'side and top canopy opening windows' non operation.....whilst it would be superb to have these windows/canopies operative at some future date,it is not....and has been not,my intention to criticize in any way the sterling work of those fine fellows over at Team Fusion Solutions, there work on this Wellington is first class.

I have,to be fair,I maybe let my over exuberance/passion on the TFS Wellington module, and the marvel that it is,get the better of me,so,if I have offended you TFS in anyway, please forgive me,this was certainly not my intention.....I just want this made crystal clear.

What you have achieved with this aircraft is fantastic, and it stands as a credit to you Gentlemen,so from me personally, thank you very much.

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

Meaks, no one can take offence at your strong enthusiasm for the recently-introduced Wellington. I’ve enjoyed reading your detailed background on Wellies in general, and the 149th in particular.

I suggest you take a look at the Bugtracker, as this is where Team Fusion examines and prioritizes their work assignments. Operational side windows (especially if TrackIR and future VR allow the head to protrude a little bit for better taxxiing visibility) is not a bug, but would certainly be a requested feature. If you make an entry there I would upvote it and encourage others to do so, too. TFS have a full workload ongoing right now...but who knows?

Thanks for your kind words Snapper, and I will do as you suggest, however,I do not want to make a big thing about this, and certainly don't want to cause headaches for our friends at TFS,as after all this is not a bug....just a whim from a passionate Wimpy pilot.

    Thanks Buddy,btw,see you tomorrow night

I'm perfectly ignorant of the technical issues, but i think I remember the info that there are just so many animations the sim can handle per aircraft.Once this number is reached, there is no more room for more.
This was the reason that the cowling flaps of the Beaufighter were not animated prior to one of the latest updates.

Since the Welli cockpit is really complex, I assume that the maximum number of animations was reached.

Thanks for your reply Derda....well this would explain a lot,and as many will have realised,I too,am perfectly ignorant of the technical issues, from what you've said, this makes perfect sense, thanks mate, appreciated.

EDIT.....On closer research,I have read that these animations can,and have been expanded......I believe both the Beaufighter and the Wimpy had to have these animations expanded to allow the operation of their cowl flap operation,so we live in hope, and as I have already pointed out,if anyone can make this work Team Fusion Solutions can.....I have great faith in their masterful skills

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

    I agree with Meaks.

If it is at all possible to implement, and when the time and resources allow, can modelling of an opening side window on the Wellington be looked at.

This would add to immersion and historical accuracy.

    Upvoted!

If pilots have the ability to cock head slightly out of the window while taxiing (as can be done with sliding canopies in RAF fighters) then ground objects can be better avoided.

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

Alot of planes lack some viewspace and in any plane it would be neat be able too lean outside the sidewindows like in the 109s and 110s whiche feature sidewindows but you have to close the canopy to be able to take off unlike some counterpart planes.

Though the possibility to make a keybinding for leaning outside is there, it's kind of featured in the He 111, where you can slide open the top window and "raise seat" - it raises the seat with all the control columns while you are sticking your head out over the top. Sadly the view and space is still quite limited up there.
Would be neat to be able to do that for other planes, also the BR.20 could use this to watch out of the small glass dome you got at the co pilot seat.

Re: Re Wellington Side Windows Operation

Gentlemen, please take time out to sign the bug tracker,we are politely asking Team Fusion Solutions to add the feature of having the side windows and top canopy window (which is split in two and opens out like butterfly/gull wings) made operative.

This is my final ask Gents.....if you want this feature made operative....it's now down to you,remember...if we don't ask,we don't get, thank you

This will add better immersion, and will allow you to negotiate ground objects whilst taxiing better,it will hopefully, also allow for a better all round sense of situational awareness whilst in formation.
