Hi all! new Blitz owner here with a big butt?

    Hey y'all!

I'm trying for the life of me to get the CLOD up and running but am having zero success.

Tried most of the post suggestions on Il2 forums and others but all of the handful of suggestions has led to same failure about 5-10 secs after launch. The CLOD banner shows sometime with no background or with a black screen behind it but both crashing in that short 5-10 second window.

I've not played CLOD but looked around in the menus when I first bought it about 4 months ago but then it sat unused. Just a week or two ago I decided to launch it to have a look around and this started to happen.

Running windows 10 and have very few moments of frustration like this with any Steam game i can remember.

Can we start a new thread of troubleshooting tips here?

    All support is greatly appreciated,

    mh

    Hi Murlahoney,

I don't have a big butt so I can't help but I'm sure if you explain the details of what the problem is (an error shows up?, can't fly?, what happens when you start the game?) and your computer specs. some one's butt will widen and will be able to give you a hand

If you haven't played it before, try to delete this folder in your documents folder "Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover"
If you have played it, back up the file "confuser.ini" first.

Re: Hi all! new Blitz owner here with a big butt?

    thanks for the crackerjack responses.
    Steamcloud is enabled
deleted the documents 1C SoftClub folder every time
    no error code comes up

sorry if i wasn't clear.... only type of crash i exp is 5-15 secs after pressing the play button--all that happens is the CloD banner pops on screen and then the ctd not long after

    things I've tried:

running CloD right after an update that appears to be entirely for Tobruk - which i do not own - and crashes about 10 secs after pressing play

have made exception in windows defender (win10 controlled folder access is off)

running from shortcut on desktop with admin privileges

have moved files to different hard drives and verified files several times after such move

deleted 1c SoftClub folder in my documents

have tried to taskmanager end-task'd as many programs as possible

unplugged all usb ports so that just the keyboard and mouse are working

net frame and visual c++ upto date as well as win10 updates fully updated

    steam overlays off

    hardware specs:
    single screen, windows 10, 8700k, 1080ti, 32gig

here's a list of programs from the command prompt:

I am not sure how to read the tasklist but to make sure can you confirm that Nahimic was not running?
If I remember correctly I had problems with that for some years ago.

Re: Hi all! new Blitz owner here with a big butt?

Last thing I could ask is to delete those files in "steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover" :

    conf.ini
    confs.ini
    confuser.ini

    then verify the game
and also delete the same files in the documents 1C Softclub folder again, before you start the game to also get the new downloaded fresh files replaced in the documents.
If that doesn't help my last hope is reinstalling the whole game and deleting 1C Softclub CloD folder after you did that.

MfeAVSvc: Sounds like you have McAfee antivirus too. Can you try disabling it?

    Steamcloud should be disabled.
But most probably its the Antivirus.

Re: Hi all! new Blitz owner here with a big butt?

    Hello Murlahoney

    Welcome to ATAG.

Can you check the "Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide"?

It is located in the 'manuals' folder inside your main IL-2 install folder in whatever drive you installed on.

    So:

    (drive)/Program files/Steam/Steamapps/common/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover blitz/manuals/

It provides a detailed outline of how to install the game and how to solve issues which might arise.

There are also aircraft manuals there too.

Most likely your Ctd is probably your Anti-Virus blocking the game.... disable the AV prior to start to see if that solves the problem.

If that is it, then place an exception in the AV for the entire IL-2 folder so it won't block in future.

Normally you want to install using admin privileges and with the AV off.

Re: Hi all! new Blitz owner here with a big butt?

i tried those last four suggestions with no success

    Nahimic proscesses killed
con.. files in documents and game folder deleted and then verified to replace game folder files....nada
just removed my mcaffee altogether as i just expired and hate that av program...to many inadvertant popups i was unable to manage...nada
think i disabled the Cloud service correctly....settings in title menu options for Steam Cloud syncronization??... disabled now

thanks for all your directions. seeing that its not the biggest game I'll give her a new download at some point soon though i'm not entirely encouraged to try that as I've read it hasn't made any difference...

    cheers guys

I'll give the manual a good over and cross my fingers. thanks buzz

Q: how does one install with admin priveleges? I've not done that with steam on anything yet...thx

If you are going to re-install, would absolutely recommend looking at the "Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide" first.

See this thread on the 1C forums for common CTD causes:

    https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic...and-solutions/

But there is more info in the "Getting Started..." manual... so please read.

To install as Admin, right click on the program and select "Install as Admin".

You will need to provide the Admin password.

Oops forgot about that one, it save the files - bldconf.ini confUser.ini and user.ini, they are overwritten by the Steam Cloud.
I was wondering why I could not see my saved belts from missionbuilder and found out that the game is saving it to the Steam Cloud folder in "Steam\userdata\64278145\754530\remote" 754530 being the Game ID of CloD Blitz
So if Steam Cloud is disabled, either for the game or general, deleting confUser.ini and user.ini in documents now actually does reset these files.

In order reset your steam cloud save game files, you need to -

    have Steam Cloud enabled

get in to "Steam\userdata\64278145\754530\remote" 754530 being the Game ID of CloD Blitz atleast for me, you see your ID in the game properties in Steam, the other number might be different.
open these files with txt editor, clear text and save it

    bldconf.ini
    confUser.ini
    user.ini

Start game to let Steam Cloud update the files

If you try to just delete them, the old files are just getting redownloaded from steam, so either swap them out - if you need to change the a faulty cloud files
or make them blank so steam "updates" the old files.
Once you start the game, the game pulls automatically the data that's missing from the game directory files "Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz"

steam cloud files and the documents files are loaded and saved independently of each other.

Hopefully it does works out now.

    Hello Murlahoney

    - Open the 'Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide' and take the time to read through it.

This covers most of the common issues which new players have.

    - Open the Aircraft manuals .pdf... it will give you the details on how to successfully fly the aircraft.

    Hiya Murlahoney
Welcome to a great community, glad you have got your launch troubles sorted.
    A great helpful bunch here.

The fun has only just started.
Don't worry most of us still have no idea what we are doing and can't get off the ground without leaving our wheels/flaps/rads in the wrong position before plummeting back to earth.
You should see some of our online antics on the livestreams.

Then you get people shooting at you as well!
Makes you realise how fantastic the guys were in real life.

This sim has one of the best flight models and the variety of aircraft is second to none.
Once you get over the basics the sky is your oyster.
Apologies i have mixed my metaphors.
