Cool TFS 6.0 Winter War Finland an option?

Winter map could may be “copied” from the original IL-2?

For Finnish side we already have the Gloster Gladiator, Bristol Blenheim, Brewster 239 (comes close to the Martlet), Fiat G.50 and Hurricane. And may be adding the Fokker D.21.

    For Soviet side I would suggest: I-16, DB-3, SB-2 and I-153.

I think the area between Murmansk and Kirkenes would be better they would not even have make any new planes at the start they could just have the Luftwaffe planes already in game(109 E/F, He-111, Ju-88/87) vs. Lend-Lease planes on Russian side (P-40, Spit V, Hurricane II) just slap some red stars on the skins and you're good to go.

Could even be fun as a map only extra DLC as say TF 5.5. Similarly to when 4.5 came out and all we really got was the Beaufighter in terms of content (along with all the associated bug fixes and and improvements.....). But a smaller update than a full expansion like Desert Wings Tobruk.

Problem is I bet maps take a ton of effort and you'd need to build a bunch of Russian ground units as well.

    Oh, come on.
Not another sim with Russian aircraft and snowy forests!

As an expansion to the already existing theatres I would much prefer a battle of France scenario with Do 17, Hawks and Moranes.
Much less work, much more fun, never done.

And for the next big DLC Sicily! (drooooooooooooooooooooooooool!)
Then, with the aircraft already existing, there could be a map expansion for el-Alamein.

And somehow I doubt that 1C would let TFS start to go east.
Quod licet Jovi non licet and so on.

Very little chance to ever see an eastern front addon for CloD, even though a full Battle of Moscow expansion was basically finished by the time the original development team was disbanded.
For one afaik the eastern front is exclusive to Great Battles and 777 Studios, and iirc TFS doesnt have any russian speaking team members so development would be kind of a challenge.

I too would much rather see the early western front (BoF) and North Africa & the Med fleshed out.

Damn too bad that got axed. I bought the great battles series during the christmas sale and it is not bad but it is not quite as good as Cliffs. I mainly play it cause there are far more people playing it online.

Malta and Italy would be fun! Maybe have a FW-190 without the "Oleg" front glass and a P-51 with the .50's like the P-40 Warhawk has in game now. (Those two thing used to really p!ss me off in IL2)

Pretty sure some of the assets may have been reused in IL2 Battle of Stalingrad when that came out.

I don't think that was possible.
CloD was based on an entirely new game engine (too ambitious for the time), while BoX used the pre-existing engine of Rise of Flight engine (older but tested).
    No technical compatibility there.

Not the finished, game-ready assets, true. But I guess 777 was provided the raw 3D models and adapted those to the requirements of their engine.
How could they otherwise churn out a completely new sim with 10 flyables based on an engine that up to that point had not been adapted to the much heavier and faster WW2 warbirds in just a year. There must have been some shortcuts in development. Look at how long they take now on average to put out a new expansion and that with part of the new flyables based on already existing assets.

Cool Re: TFS 6.0 Winter War Finland an option?

I've have seen the aircraft pictures of "Storm of War Battle of Moscow" before.
But I'm surprised to see Rostic's Moscow screens, I thought only aircraft were WIP for this title. Really a pity that this title did not come out, Moscow map and Soviet aircraft with clickable cockpits.

Battle of France is also a good option, adding 1 fighter to 2 we already have and add 2 other ones and you are good to go.

    Fighters:
    Bloch 152
    Morane Saulnier 406
    Curtis Hawk 75 (P40) V
    Dewoitine 520 V

    2 engine planes:
    Bloch 174
    LEO 451
    Potez 637 Bf110 copy
    Breguets 693

Gloster Gladiator Belgium Air Force V

We do not have a Hawk75, which was the export version of the radial engined Curtiss P-36. We do have the Tomahawk and Kittyhawk, both with inline engines and a number of quite substantial differences, both externally and inside the cockpit.

You may be correct there, I know too little about the technical stuff to tell what's possible or not.
and even if they just submitted the historical-technical research data about the aircraft to 777 it would have spared them a lot or working hours.

    Hawk 75 = P-36. I forgot, is indeed a different aircraft.

Would be nice if we had this from CFS1, released in 1998. A not to complex addition that would make campaigns so much more intresting.
Debriefing, logbook, medals and rank. The medals were the best graphics of the whole sim. And not to forget the German radio chatter: "Raise your gear Dummkopf!"

I'd settle to get the Murmansk campaigns back, and get the new aircraft ( esp cannon equipped Hurricanes) useable as well...The Winter map in that now old campaign was quite nice.

There was also a Korea addon underway which never saw the light of day.

Yes, I can remember Oleg was working on a Korea add-on. MiG's vs Sabres with a 1950's Korea map, imagine that! You can find a 2009 interview on SimHQ regarding Storm of War: Korea.
