    palker's lockdown youtube spam

Due to severe lack of things to do I recently upped my video production rate from basically nothing to will not stop until I can go outside again.
So instead of creating a new thread for all the new 'content' I'll just put them over here.
Today's video is about dropping bombs on tanks. Turns out you can blow them up at surprisingly large distances. The only tough nut to crack
is a Matilda tank where only guarantee is a direct hit or a very large bomb. Though I have seen them survive close hits from SC1000 so YMMV.

Recording from a sortie on TWC massive bomber formation test server.
This was a few weeks ago when TWC run a test of a server where a large bomber formation would attack France every hour or half hour not sure about that.
The server had a clever radar intercept simulation where you would get locations and intercept headings for the enemy formations, which enabled me to set up for nice head on attack at ideal altitude.

Four and then eight flights of Beaufighters armed with 500 pound bombs attack 2 axis cruisers escorted by 4 destroyers in Cliffs of Dover.
Created this mission to see how many airplanes do I need to sacrifice in order to get through that crack shot AAA on those nasty warships.
My efforts were a bit hampered by stupid AI pilots crashing into each other so the losses were 100% with not that great results.
Attacking anything bigger than a torpedo boat seems like a suicide mission.

Low level attacks with Beaus on warships, let alone a whole fleet, are suicidal (and that's how it should be).
With Beaus you can attack freighters and U-boats. Even a single Minensuchboot will ripp 3 of 4 attackers apart before they get into dropping distance.

Anything bigger can only be attacked with high flying level bombers. The Beaus can't do that, because they have no bomb sight. The Wimpy squad found out how extremely difficult it is to hit a ship from about 10.000 ft which is not really a save height.

The only way to suceed would be a larger group of level bombers laying a bomb carpet from up high, so maybe two or three of the babies hit.

I updated the mission a little to make the Beaus less likely to collide, you can try it.

    AntiShip.zip

I made it a bit more survivable by setting the attack speed to the max.
If you get lucky and attack at full speed you can sink one of the cruisers and friendly planes might get the other one.
All in all for the price of 10 twin engine fighter bombers you can get 2 cruisers, not a bad trade though the pilots of those 10 planes might disagree.
I will probably add some fighter cover and escorts for extra chaos in the future. See if the computer can handle it.

The most effective way I have found of attacking cruisers is with the Hurricane and doing dive bombing. You just have to be careful to not rip the control surfaces apart. It's a lot easier to aim than the Welly and it's easier to run away too!

This weekend I tried spinning, turns out it is not a good trick.
It all started after I flat spinned my Beaufighter to the ground. I wanted to learn how to recover from it and while I was doing that I decided
to try other fighters. Below is the result of my efforts. Warning: may contains spelling and grammar errors.

You can really see that Youtube compression cannot really keep up with the more violent spins on the on screen text (it gets all blurry during the high motion parts of the video)

    Thank you for this!
I never found out how to recover from flat spins in a Beau.
