Great idea, Pete! I'll certainly aim to be there! S!
P.s. Turn the oxygen on 'Full,' Pete.....does wonders for ye olde hangover!

Great to see a full-ish server and people having fun - thanks for organising Pattle.

It was great to finally get back in the air for the first time since November. Managed to not get killed, landed a crippled P-40C, er, Tomahawk (sorry Cybermat ), then took a new one and racked up 2.5 kills. The rudder axis on my stick was still being a right proper pain in the rear but it was really really fun still.
I may have put my plane into a spin a few too many times but I blame pulling an all nighter making drawings of shafts and gears right before
Hope to get back on next weekend perhaps.

Great fun to get back into a Spitfire after so much time spent in the good old Wimpey. A little rusty but managed to survive and bring her down in one piece. Thanks all!

Fantastic photos! (My poor Wimpey OJ-X couldn’t out turn a 109 F4 - who’da thunk? )

Apologies i could not make it as it looked a blast!
However my excuse was i was at nearby Abingdon airfield at an airsoft Milsim and was able to see some of the sets and scene building for the forthcoming filming of the new Tom Hanks mini series based on USAF daylight bombing.
I snapped this pic of mock B17 by runway as it was close by. (Its not real, just timber i think) The lorry is unfortunately parked in an annoying spot and we were warned to keep a distance.
The old control tower has been done up and several huts and Anderson shelters added round and i counted 4 other "B17" under blue tarps.
Part of the MOD area we were able to use had been cleared and bomb shelters/stores opened up with additional "crates" added. We were told not to damage anything as they hope to inherit any left over stuff when filming finishes.
On driving in my son exclaimed "Wow, there a ***** B17 in our car park"
Shame it wasn't a Welli or a Lanc...

Apologies, too!
I was hoping to make it last Saturday but we have new neighbours who invited us to a 'get to know your new neighbours evening.' I could hardly refuse! I don't think.....'Sorry, everybody but I'm needed in the Western Desert'....would have cut the mustard! Glad it was a success! Salute!
P.s. I used to live on RAF Abingdon airfield around 1970 - 1972. Dad was SATCO (Senior Air Traffic Control Officer) and even then I remember the amount of air traffic seemed far less than on the fighter stations like Coltishall and the airfields in RAF Germany. There was a squadron of Hercules stationed there, I think. They often took part in operations to run emergency food supplies to Ethiopia and parts of Africa suffering from famine.
G'day Marlow.
Its still pretty much intact and doubt its changed much. Probably why they are using.
If i had been able i would have got a shot with the hangers in background.
Told that a low loader brought the main B17 onto site so may be more to it that i could discern.
I may try the other side at some point to see what they have done around Control tower as there was more "stuff".
My father in law was at Brize Norton then Tangmere during same 60/70's period so may even have passed on parade!
He was load crew.
