    It's July 10th, 1940 - and TWC 113 Days Campaign is LAUNCHED

The 113 Days of the Battle of Britain--the first military campaign in history fought entirely by air forces--were July 10th-October 31st, 1940.

It's July 10th once again - and the TWC 113 Days Campaign is launched!

The map currently stands at +0.

Pushing the front all the way across the Channel and establishing a beachhead on the opposite shore will require +7,000 campaign points for your side - the most ever achieved. The courage and the strength - the skill and the daring - the coordination and the teamwork - the sacrifice - the guts - it will require for you and your team to reach that point will be immense.

Establishing the beachhead at great cost, you must then launch a massive attack on a difficult, dangerous, and well-hidden secret target that will be revealed at that time.

If the attack succeeds, you win.

If it fails, it will be a catastrophic loss that will set your side back - and will give the other side the opportunity to establish their own beachhead and attempt their own final attack.

It will be a very long 113 Days, indeed.

Good Luck and God Speed to one and all.

Re: It's July 10th, 1940 - and TWC 113 Days Campaign is LAUNCHED

    Server update from first weekend--

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who spent time flying in the server this weekend. It was quite busy for many, many hours.

    Some updates/bug fixes etc:

    • Bug fix: For a day or so, death meant a 6 minute timeout instead of what it should be--a six minute period when you can't spawn into forward bases, but CAN spawn into slightly rearward bases. Fixed.

    • Bug fix: For a period, it was not possible to spawn in <cover aircraft. Fixed.

    • Improvement: Tab-4-4-4-1 and the similar listing on the General Situation Map/online radar page is improved and better organized. Radar, airports, and other objectives are separated out, and assets from each army are listed separately.

This is important, because you'll want to know location and status of ALL of your own army's damaged or destroyed objectives now, thanks to . . .

REPAIR AND FERRY MISSIONS GREATLY EXPANDED AND IMPROVED

You can fly squadrons of aircraft to carry repair supplies to repair airports, radar, or any other objectives more quickly.

AND you can fly ferry squadrons to bring new aircraft to the front and add them to your army's aircraft supply.

For both, you can fly your own aircraft PLUS up to 8 Cover Aircraft. So you have up to 9 new aircraft added to your supply OR 9 loads of Repair Supplies helping your airfield, radar, or other important military asset get repaired faster.

In addition: The repair & ferry missions are something of Good Piloting Challenges. All the normal navigational aids are removed. You fly through a less familiar part of the map, and you must cover a long distance in a limited time and with limited fuel. You have to find the airport, radar, or other repair location quickly and accurate through good solid map reading, navigation, and terrain recognition. You have to take off and land cleanly and accurately, and organize/herd your Cover Aircraft along with you.

Get lost - blow an engine - can't find an objective - run out of fuel - crash land - muff your landing - can't drop your load right on target - any of a dozen things of that sort go wrong, and you're finished. You'll run out of time and fuel.

All the instructions are in-game at <phelp.

    Here is the summary:

113 DAYS REPAIR AND FERRY MISSIONS: WHAT THEY ARE AND HOW TO FLY THEM

You can fly squadrons of bombers to carry repair supplies to repair airports, radar, or any other objectives more quickly.

AND you can fly ferry squadrons of any aircraft to bring new aircraft to the front and add them to your army's aircraft supply.

For both, you can fly your own aircraft PLUS up to 8 Cover Aircraft of the same type. So you have up to 9 new aircraft added to your supply OR 9 loads of Repair Supplies helping your airfield, radar, or other important military asset get repaired faster.

In addition: The repair & ferry missions are something of Good Piloting Challenges. All the normal navigational aids are removed. You have to take off and land cleanly and accurately, and organize/herd your Cover Aircraft along with you.

Get lost - blow an engine - can't find an objective - run out of fuel - crash land - muff your landing - run into enemy unexpectedly - can't drop your load right on target - any of a dozen things of that sort go wrong, and you're finished. You'll run out of time and fuel.

You have to know exactly what you're doing and do it all right.

    Good luck!

Basic instructions are in-game at <phelp. Here are the details:

    >>>>ASSET REPAIR & FERRY MISSIONS HELP

Commands are <pickup <ferry <deliver <abandon <phelp. You can try them and get instructions, help, etc.

How to Fly a Repair Mission with <pickup and <deliver

A Repair Mission repairs airports, radar, or other military assets faster by delivering needed repair supplies.

#1. Spawn in at an airport far back from the front lines in a heavy bomber w/no bomb load.

#2. Chat command <pickup to pick up a load of repair staff/material

#3. At this point you can add up to 8 cover aircraft that will also ferry supplies. Chat command<cover 1 2 (repeatedly) Cover Aircraft will all be the same type as your own.

#3. Land at a damaged/destroyed airport to unload your supplies OR fly low over damaged radar or other objective needing repair to do a low-altitude air drop.

#4. Chat command <deliver to unload or do an air drop of supplies. Repair of that objective will be accelerated!

How to Fly a Ferry Mission with <ferry and <deliver

A Ferry Mission adds up to 9 new aircraft to your army's aircraft supply.

#1. Spawn in at an airfield far back from the front lines in the aircraft you wish to ferry (even if stock is 0 for this aircraft you can still spawn in at the special Ferry Airports where they have new supply from the factory). It can be any aircraft available at the Ferry Airports - including all types available to your side.

#2. Chat command <ferry to start the ferry mission

#3. At this point you can bring in cover aircraft to ferry with you. <cover 1 2 (repeatedly). The Cover Aircraft will all be the same type as your aircraft.

#4. Fly to a front line airport (less than 60km from the front).

#5. Land safely, complete stop. Then chat command <deliver

#6. Aircraft of that type will be added to your supply. Your aircraft will be added, and any Cover Aircraft from your squadron within 13km (8 miles) of you at the moment you enter <deliver will be added to your army's supply, as well.

    NOTES & DETAILS

    * You must <pickup and <ferry starting at airports in the far corner of the map. If you're not there you'll receive a message when you try <ferry or <pickup to help you know where to go.

    * Also, you must pick up your Cover Aircraft at one of those same airfields. Usually you would just spawn in, <pickup or <ferry, and then <cover 1 2 (repeatedly) to get your Cover Aircraft right then at the same airport.

    * Even if a particular aircraft supply is zero, you can still pick up an aircraft of that type for yourself and your <cover aircraft, in the <ferry area ONLY.

    * If repairing a damage/destroyed airport: Your target airport is damaged, so landing is tricky. Land anywhere nearby & survive, as you are able. It is OK if it is near the airport, but not necessarily within the visible boundaries - for example, in a neighboring field. A little damage to your aircraft won't hurt things, probably--as long as you are still alive.

    * Repair radar & other objectives (other than airports) via low-altitude air drops: Fly low over the target, 70m AGL or less. <deliver very close to center of target & low. For a destroyed target there is often a smoke plume indicating the center of the target.

    * If successful with the air drop, you'll see a flare smoking on the ground to guide ground crews to your drop point, and a message indicating success (or failure).

    * Nearly all types of objectives and military assets can be repaired. Airfields, radar, and fuel production/supplies are the most vital.

    * Use Tab-4-4-4-1 menu OR General Situation Map/online radar for lists of which radar, airports, and other assets are damaged, and exact sector for all damaged/destroyed assets.

    * Tab-4-4-4-5 OR the General Situation Map gives your aircraft supply listing. You can see which aircraft supplies are low and need replenishing. Note that Cover Aircraft of a given type are not available once supplies dwindle below about 25 - so aircraft needed for Cover duty may need replenishment early.

    * Note: This is a Good Piloting challenge! You must take off and land cleanly, get to your destination quickly with only a minimum of fuel loaded, and successfully herd your Cover Aircraft - while evading any enemy. Clean, solid, expert piloting and navigation is absolutely required. Get lost - crash land - overheat your engines - can't find your objective - any little thing goes wrong - and it's ALL over.

    * And... most navigation aids are unavailable for Repair/Ferry missions. You'll be flying by the good old compass, map, and seat-of-the-pants...

    *Tip: Abbreviate <pickup, <ferry, <deliver, <abandon to <pi, <fe, <de, <ab

Good luck! We've had some spectacular failed missions so far - but no successful ones that I know of, including none by me.

    It ain't easy . . .

Flug, I did manage to take supplies to an airfield(before the update) and they were happy to receive the goods. Will try with multi aircraft as doing 7.5% per plane would take a long time, nice added feature.
You have a <abandon command didn't see an outline. Is this if you get into some sort of trouble you can send you squad to safety? If you don't release your planes are they lost to your side or do they just go back into factory supply levels? If you die does it affect your fighter or bomber career or do you have a ferry career? Or would it just affect your sides overall health numbers? What's that saying "Don't pay the ferryman till he gets you to the other side"

Also, when ferrying planes....some planes are only available at certain fields. Can you ferry these planes to different airfields that normally don't have them? Some airfields take more damage more times than others.......one should choice carefully....me thinks.....

No, unfortunately it doesn't work that way. We could implement a supply-per-airport system but that would be some work and not so easy.

Yes, if you have a load (or ferry aircraft) you are sort of stuck with that until you somehow get rid of the load. And you can't use radar, aerial intercept radar, etc etc etc while you have a load.

So if you can't make it to the destination with your load, you can land anywhere and then chat command <abandon, which gets rid of your load.

The ferry aircraft & cover aircraft carrying your load will go back where they came from, meaning they don't count against the regular Supply as long as you release them to go their merry way. (<abandon and/or <cland will do the trick.)
