One for all Branches of the Military, New and Old ft. Chopîn

    Something a little different.
Piano playing is something I've been into since I was seven, so I just thought I'd share this beauty from one of my favourite composers, Fryderyk Chopîn.
Played by one of the pianists who played his music the best in my opinion, Artur Rubenstein.

Anywho, this is Chopîn's A major Op.40 No.1 Polonaise "Military"

(for non musical fellas, Op stands for Opus, which is a theoretical time frame in the composer's life, No is of course the number of the piece in that time frame, then there is the name of the style of piece, here being a Polonaise, and sometimes they have specific names, this one being "Military")

    Enjoy!

Brings back fond memories. My eldest brother used to play that on the home piano when I was a kid about 60 years ago. He played it at a slightly slower tempo by choice. A beautiful piece.

That is awesome! Thanks for sharing that Snapper!

It is remarkable to think of people playing someone's composition from 200 years ago.
There is always something special in music, someone's passion, ideas and emotions, which can then be shared by anyone who plays that same music, its wonderful.

Well, once I get my hands on Schirmer's collection of Chopîn's Mazurkas and Polonaises I will most certainly be giving this one a go haha!

Oh yes, the fabled cat pianist, I recall wat hing through his videos at one stage haha! You'd want your capstans to be well secured and not loose like on mine in order to do that, but yes a good meowsage no doubt xD

That is a nice Colander, there are so many remarkable compositions out there, you just have to wonder how they managed to think all of them up!

I first heard these when I was playing a game called MB Napoleonic Wars, whilst in the battlefield, hearing these pieces while launching an attack were just epic!

    My favourite Chopin:

Quite simple, and so sad, but I love it!

Didn't realise beer was so big in Poland?

Vivaldi certainly was up there with the greats!
For strings I find Luigi Boccherini a good go to, such excellent examples of the style of music from even a little before Chopîn's time.
