I'm in and out of autopilot all the time. And one thing I like to do, is use autopilot to land an undamaged aircraft to enjoy the cinematic external view of the landing (I always hand fly a landing for a damaged aircraft, as I feel like I have a better chance of landing it over the autopilot). And on several of the campaigns I'm flying, the autopilot landings are working perfectly. But on one campaign I'm flying, the first 3 landings I've tried using autopilot have ended in the plane crashing. Twice it hit the trees on final approach, and one went into an erratic traffic pattern that ended in a crash into the trees a few miles out (I sat and watched it to see what it would do...lol).
Is the autopilot landing behavior and traffic pattern set by the airport design, or is it set by the mission/campaign designer? Just wondering so I won't attempt any further autopilot landings with this one campaign if it is set by the mission/campaign designer. Some designers hate autopilot...lol I remember the Desaster Soft campaigns that were built without autopilot waypoints so you had to hand fly the missions from start to finish
So what's the word on autopilot landings?
