Didn't put this in screenshots but....

I got all sentimental when I remembered this screenshot and so I doctored it up a bit. Nice place to land. I think this is still IL-2 Forgotten Battles and not even 1946

Yep, the old girl still has it. These are screenshots from a film I created in 2007. The fact that IL2 could render huge formations and contrails (although needed careful editing to remove any flickering) was so impressive to see.

Nowadays IL-2 1946 may look a bit better with Graphics Extender MOD. Sad that this mod is still WIP. So some effects are just not working and some bugs still there.
But it is already usable for daylight mission and results are great (IL-2 1946 + HSFX 7/VP media + GE):

So amazing that such an old game has still got some life in it. The last time I counted I think there was well over 200 aeroplanes that were flyable is that correct?

Never counted them. But I know that engine has limitation to 255 aircrafts. But some MOD packs have more aircrafts then that limitation and using somthing to switch files for different eras (WWI, WWII, Jet Era etc.).

Another of my favorites but this one is 20 years old coming from IL-2 Stumovik 2001. This screenshot hasn't been touched at all, I'm "Hackl" and that's me on fire. Stigler actually was nice enough to make that skin for me and did a beautiful job. He started a 9./JG52 squad and I was in it for a time along with Joshua Pope Fritag and others. Pope changed his name to Graf and became really good at putting sim aircraft into pictures and creating artwork. I still have Roger Wilco in my PC and I can't see anything wrong with using it if you just want to have a few guys talking in private. It would be like an unbreakable enigma machine..Roger Wilco... What's that? newbies would say
