BF109-F1 ammo counter to be corrected?

    Hi,
in the current BF109 F1 the ammo counter of the E4, E7 is used, maybe because the F1 has a MG-FF too?
I have to admit that have never seen a photo of a F1 cockpit, but what about using the counter of the F2/F4 for 3 weapons for the F1 too?
But if the current counter is the right one, than the function has to be changed:
The 60round counter is in the current F1 is coupled with the machine guns that have 500rounds / gun.
So the counter counts very slow from 60 to zero until all 2x500 rounds are fired.
    Please check this.

Acc to "Messerschmitt Bf 109 Einsatzmaschinen: Das Nachschlagwerk" this is indeed the correct ammo counter for the Bf109F-1. The book has a picture of the dashboard showing the weapon control box and ammo counter in the same spot that it is in in the sim.
As the cannon only carried 60 rounds it's likely that the ammo counters were used for the MGs, not the cannon, like was also the case on the much later Bf109K model.

Thanks for this information, this means that the counter is the correct model and if the function (from 60 to 0) for the machine guns is correct too, perfect!
Update: concerning the ammo counter: I found in the Luftwaffen Dienstvorschrift L-Dv.113-1 (Description / Manual MG-FF): the ammo counter ZVK-FF was special designed to count the content of the 60 round drums.
But maybe it was modified later ?

Re: BF109-F1 ammo counter to be corrected?

    To conclude the topic:

The ammo counter is the right one, confirmed also by the L.Dv. T.2400/4a "Bf109F1 Bedienung und Wartung der Schußwaffe" (operation and maintenance of the gun).
    Clipboard01.png

    This is the SKK 224

    HOWEVER
The operation of the ammo counter is wrong.
Currently it tracks the ammo supply of the two cowling mounted MG17s.
Each machine gun has 500 rounds, the two counters on the SKK 224 only have 2 digits though.
Ingame this dilemma is bypassed by rounding ammo to tens. Each counter shows "50" when full up, meaning 500 rounds.
That's not how the counter worked though as it had specifically been designed to track cannon rounds.

The way it should actually work is like on the Ju88C-2:
One counter (left) should be inactive, showing "00" while the other (right) shows "60" for the 60 rounds of the single MG FF/M equipped on the Bf109F-1.
