Cliffs of Dover Blitz - Featuring WIP TrueSky

Hi All,

Here is our first Cliffs of Dover Blitz combat sortie video featuring the work in progress of TrueSky.

As you can see, the level of immersion in the cockpit, along with the real life difficulties TrueSky will give to players is next level!

Video also features WIP 4K terrain and aircraft, including the WIP 4K Spitfire cockpit!

All features are part of an upcoming massive graphics update, including the implementation of VR.

Mission featured the 48 aircraft from the RAF (12 x Spitfire's, 12 x Hurricane's) and Luftwaffe (24 x Bf-109E-4's) going head to head over Dover.

As far as I understood, there will be the visual update first, including TrueSky, 4K terrain and VR, all of this for free to everyone who owns Blitz or Tobruk.
And after this, there will be TFS 6.0, with massive new content (aircraft, map) as another DLC that (rightly) has to be paid for.

DerDa is exactly right.

The Visual Update will contain everything he listed and will indeed be installed automatically and for free into everyone’s copy of Blitz and Tobruk. Players will be able to tone down these visuals via the ingame video settings if they find their PC’s are a bit challenged frame rate wise.

As DerDa said, a new down loadable content (ver 6.0) will be available to purchase in the future featuring new aircraft and location.

I hope true sky will be an option for map makers/server providers. I have read accounts of RL pilots inWW2 unable to find targets when directed by ground control to the exact location because of visibility. My opinion for whats its worth Cliffs need to balance Playability(is that a word) against realisim and historical accuracy. Looking forwad to new upgrades and CLOD 6.0. Keep up the good work TFs and thank you. s!

Looking great!

I have neglected CLoD of late due to the pleasures of DCS World and IL2 Sturmovik viewed through my recently acquired VR headset. However, once we have CLoD with VR capability and Truesky it will surely be a market leader in WW2 flight sims since it has a far better mission editor than IL2 Sturmovik's, comes complete with a large set of flyable aircraft, has a decent choice of sizeable maps, and is an excellent technical simulator.

Please release the VR and Truesky upgrade ASAP, as I'm sure WW2 flight simmers will then flock to it. VR and volumetric/layered clouds is old hat these days!

Nice video, thanks for sharing - good to see progress!

One thing I did notice is that the top of the clouds looked to be fairly uniform in height, kind of flat. Is this because this was simply the 'weather' that day or is that how TrueSky clouds generate all the time?
