Battle of France On Line Event this weekend! 27-28 Aug

    Hi All,

This weekend, we experience some of the earliest aerial battles of WW2.

    The Battle of France!

    Battle of France Aug 2022.jpg

    Missions:

Saturday 27th Aug 1800 UTC - Fall Rot
    Sunday 28th Aug 1800 UTC - Relinquish

With the introduction of the very capable Dewoitine D.520 from the Desert Wings Tobruk DLC into these missions, players will require Desert Wings Tobruk to take part.

Each event will be 4 hours in duration.

Mission Briefings will be posted closer to the weekend.

Thanks again for everyone who has been taking part over the last month. Every event has been an outstanding success, with near to full servers on each occasion.

Yet again I'm away playing shows and can't participate either day. I'd be first to spawn in if I could. Really miss these fun scenarios.

    Have a fab time all.

Why are there 1941 aircraft in the second event? Not much point advertising the D.520 if it's just going to get slaughtered by Bf 109 Fs. Not exactly ideal to have to wake up at 3:30 AM just to find that the planeset is completely different from what it was supposed to be and that all of my favourite aircraft are obsolete, either.

The event is fun, just wish I'd known the actual planeset before it started.

Sorry, Cybermat - that was entirely my fault.

The version of Relinquish on the ATAG Server had the plane set that was posted - minus the D.520. I went through both Red and Blue airfields and supplied the plane set list to Pattle. We knew that the D.520 was missing (the D.520 is a DLC offering, as you know), but I found a version of Relinquish on the TFS#3 server that DID have the D.520, so I ported that mission version over to the ATAG server. I was pressed for time last week, so regretfully did not go through the Red and Blue airfields once again to list what turned out to be the full enchilada of the DLC offerings for both sides. Pattle and I did test the moved Relinquish version on the ATAG server for any spawning problems of the sort that befell the Fall Rot event the day before (no respawn problems), but failed to notice the vastly different plane set from the prior Relinquish version.

    Regret the disappointment caused.

No worries, these things happen. Had fun anyway, so that's what matters more

Many thanks to Pattle and Snapper for putting this together.
Managed to make Sunday event and was a lot of fun trying take out the specific targets.
Really appreciate all the effort put in to make this happen.

Was really pleased to “have” the Welli instead of Blennie as despite being target practice for several 110 and 109 pilots on a couple of trips eventually managed to successfully contribute at Rouen and make it back to base on the same flight which felt pretty good.

Couldn’t last the full 4 hours but 3 went by pretty fast.

Tea and crumpets all round I reckon.

I must confess that flying the good old G50 with all those Spits V and Hurries II did not make much sense…

So I ended up doing some bombing runs with the Ju 88 A (Theville), Ju 88 C (the ships), and F4 with bombs (the bridges and fuel depot). I got PK’ed by the AAA every time. These Beaufors are really lethal, compared to the German FLAK that seems extremely inefficient in comparison…

Thanks to all who could make it. I had a lot of fun even if I had to leave after 3 hours for external reasons.

Snapper, Pattle, do not hesitate to involve me in beta testing the intended mission versions before future events. Glad to help if I can

Well crap. Switching my days off for a better fly schedule has been a bust so far.
    Jack shyte for flying.
    Dead is dead it appears.
Im committed for a few weeks on current schedule, but may as well switch back to my original schedule as no advantage is gained.
    How sad truly.
