    Re: Attaching TrackIR to monitor(?)

Ummmmmm.......... that's like a TrackiR 2 or 3 from the turn of the century. Designed to sit on top of a big boxy CRT monitor. The current TrackiR is version 5. If you paid money for that you got taken. Sorry for your loss.

    Checkout http://Grassmonkeysimulations.com

I have it, and its great. 120 or so bucks.

To make that work on flat monitor do this. remove the clip, find a small square dowel at hardware store that will fit the little gap left by removing the clip. put that dowel in the gap, and screw back in, and tighten. grab lil velco that should do it.

    Re: Attaching TrackIR to monitor(?)

Oh dear. :'( Thanks for the info.

I knew it was old but it still works although the advances in monitor tech has rendered the legs redundant for sure. Is there no way to attach a different stand to the bottom of it?

Your device was designed for use flexibility at the time when flat screens began to replace older CRT boxes. You can fix the device vertically. The steel of the legs is very strongest available and should not ever break when folded. You rotate the camera forward on its little plastic joints. The camera can attach in a vertical orientation. Do not hold anything plastic when manipulating the steel feet! My monitor is not suitable for mounting this device vertically, it is too thick but you can see it attached vertically to a favourite book in the photo for illustration.

    A.W!!!!!! 'The Lakeland Fells!'

You can always rely on Bondi to have good taste in books!

We used A.W's guides to walk both The Pennine Way and The Coast to Coast! Epic times! Salute!

Excellent routes in fascinating countryside described by a very talented explorer and artist! That must have been fun.

My first mountain summit ascent in the Lakes in my early twenties: Imagine my surprise as I was astonished to recognise mountains all around as I saw them for the very first time, knowing their names and shapes and locations from the A.W. books and 1" OS maps I had endlessly studied in my youth. Then I went and lived there for five years and climbed them all... because of the books!

And in any case, I doubt you have enough fuel to make it to Le Havre … and back.

Plenty if you take a Beaufighter, even with all those 20mm gifts.

    Re: Attaching TrackIR to monitor(?)

Mine always slipped off due to the monitor dimension, hence the stick and velcro method.
