Own skin not visible for other?!

I have my own skin for Me 109F4 in the folder

C:\Users\Amarok\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\PaintSchemes\Skins\tobruk_Bf-109F-4

saved.

I can select the skin and I see it in preview and in game. However, the other players do not see the skin.

What do I have to do so that the skin is seen by everyone on the server?

If it’s your server simply click on “Enable Custom Skins” in your server settings. Most of the public servers do not enable custom skins in order to avoid long loading times and related problems anytime a new player logs in with a custom skin.

I don’t think you can ‘see’ it.
It is activated on the DangerDogz server… this plus name tags of human pilots flying nearby, live situation inflight map, and external views.
This is very helpful for newbies, and fun for dogfights (so you know who you are fighting).
There have been many debates on whether this should be considered ‘cheating’ or not.
IMHO ‘cheating’ is when only one side or party benefits from such features, but when it is open to all, it just adds a new dimension. You may like it or not. I like it in context…

Your skin my be larger than the server allows. Check your log for a message indicating this. If that's the case you need to get under the limit perhaps by increasing the skin's compression.

There is a file in Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover called log.txt

To make it active you must first set the parameter LOG=1 in your conf.ini file

I have found that if you keep the skin file less than 500kb and have the proper dimensions, it will play on all servers that allow skins. However, that does not mean that all people will see your skin all the time. They sometimes come and go, and I don't know why that is.
