ENCORE!!!! New Zealand Rails on Wed April 24, 2024 at 20h00 GMT on the ATAG Server!

    Hi everyone,

By popular demand we are running Pernix' excellent train-busting New Zealand Rails event once again on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 20h00 GMT on the ATAG Axis vs Allies Public Server.

We had a blast flying it last Saturday, so hopefully those who couldn't make it then can join the rest of us next week. Everyone is welcome!

    Cheers!

Well it's gonna be quite late but I think I could do one or two sorties. Maybe even three if I run into Amarok early once again

    See you there

I must say that I had a lot of fun yesterday. Rovere avenged our Br20 by shooting down 7 hurry, one at a time, like a true killer. The great Renger01 guided us, safely in the desert, up to Bir-akeim, where however, with the great OBTthere wasn't much to do... the clashes then took place on Akramak, with a game of hide and seek in the clouds really fun... thanks everyone!!

I had a blast as well. I flew with Volant_Eagle and SchiopulCiung. We chose Kittyhawks (great firepower!!) and Hurricane IIc (500 lb bombs). Ciung scored 3 kills and Eagle 4 kills. (I had 1 kill because the sun got in my eyes.... )

Many thanks to Pernix for providing such a great Tobruk map. The heavy clouds added a whole new challenge - the AI Ju88's were very adept at using them for cover. Wait 'til we get TrueSky!!!!

Cheers and thanks to everyone who came out last night!

What a beautiful evening in the desert.
Yesterday, the OBTs chose to fight at Bir-Hakeim in order to defend the terrain surrounded by the Italo-German forces. The patrols consisted of OBTs Mikmak, Voss, Sibiliev, Brunov and Polak in the late evening.
The story of this evening in the form of a "fotonovella" in homage to Pernix.

    We patrol together around Bir-Hakeim

    001patrouille.jpg

We quickly set about removing the mortars surrounding the terrain. Mikmak and Voss are particularly adept at this exercise!

    003voss straffing.jpg

The environment is fabulous, the clouds are low, but this makes strafing very tricky

Unbeknownst to us, a ju 88 comes to bomb our land

    009ju88.jpg

    He bomb our trucks

    We chase him

He crash himself, hunt by air defense

But he was accompanied by a CR 42

    Voss engage it

Sibiliev continues the chase and hits him

With Mikmak we carry out a crossfire but without success, he is a skilled pilot

Unfortunately Sibiliev hits him and joins the pilots' paradise in the company of the Italian pilot

Here is a reconnaissance image, intelligence officers think it was the great Pernix

Meanwhile Mikmak intercepts a BF 110 and pursues it

In his 6, I tear off his right wing but he hits me on the radiator, I will be forced to land a few minutes later

    But he escape in clouds

Not completely, hidden in the clouds, it dives on me and attacks me.

During the dogfight that follows there is confusion, a Dewoitine shoots at me!!

fortunately, a spitfire attacks the macchi, the latter, hit, loses control and falls.

Bir hakeim seems sure, we decide to take the road to Akrama, Polak meets us on this flight

We come across a BF 109 and attack it

harassed by our group and hit, the 109 falls to the ground

without delay, two macchi engage us

one of the two macchi bears the number 84, it's the one I'm pulling but once again, it's missing!

    045brunov manque macchi 84.jpg

I lose it in the fight

Suddenly, a G50 enters the fight, we will be able to identify later that it is the big Noofy.

Mikmak and I try to take him down

I have the opportunity to do a frontal shot

052brunov frontal fire with noofy in G50.jpg

But noofy is a much better shot than me, everything goes black, here is the proof of his shooting: my canopy is riddled with bullet fragments

    054brunov dead.jpg

Unconscious, I hit his G50 and invented the delta wing.

Really sorry, Noofy for this inconvenience, you will pose like mikmak in the middle of the desert. Well done!

Thanks to Pernix for this mission and to the members of ATAG.
    I really enjoyed myself yesterday
See you soon under other skies

Yes this was fun indeed thanks to the organizers and all participants.

    Nice photo reportage Brunov

The Ju88 over Bir Hakim was me. I started by bombing the trucks and intended to do a few more passes on other ground targets but the AAA got me.

I then tried to look for the railway around Tobruk. I did not find anything and got shot down by a Hurry, I think Volant Eagle.

So I switched to my mighty G50 and had 3 dogfights.

The one with the OBT's D250 over Bir Hakim, great fun.

Also two other dogfights which I believe were with Bonditaria?

One was with a Hurry over Gazzala. He shot at me during my take off resulting in one of my guns not working. I tried my best to fight with one gun only but I don't think I managed to hit him at all. All I could do was evade his shots the best I could. That was very close to the ground... Thank God he must have run out of ammo because he ended up flying back home, so I could land to safety.

The second one was with a Spit, in the Bir Hakim area. This time I managed to shoot him down after a few head ons.

Good fights and great fun altogether

Re: ENCORE!!!! New Zealand Rails on Wed April 24, 2024 at 20h00 GMT on the ATAG Serve

I went west from Tobruk, found the two blue bases and shot some stuff on the airfields while waiting for something to spawn. Suddenly, after a few rounds, TAB-7-1 told me "Fighters, three miles north! Game on! I was hoping for something big, 110 or 88, easier to see, longer take off time etc. I was horrified to find on Netstats that it was ATAG_Noofy in a G.50. I threw my bombs on the field, gave him a burst and saw that I got hits. But Noofy made it off the ground. Oh hell, he's going to kill me! I knew the only way to win was to run. I'd get the kill anyway. But Noofy wouldn't let me leave the area and forced me to try to kill him several more times before he got the message and buzzed off. I played in the clouds on the way back east, but my tail was clear. Back over Tobruk, feeling smug, I patrolled the ships and flow to the lazy heights above the bay. Suddenly realising that I was probably out of ammo and a target, I slipped back into the thick, dusty desert smoke and, as always, made a near-perfect landing.
