    BlitzKrieg - Server Announcement

    I am starting a new server called “BlitzKrieg – Instant Action”. This server will turn off Complex Engine Mechanics so that new players can easily get into multiplayer and learn how to dogfight against other players. It will also hopefully open up CloD to people coming from games like WarThunder.

    As general target practice (and in case nobody is online), every 16-20 minutes bombers will spawn in. If you are flying a (fighter-)bomber there are also ships that you can attack, and if you destroy one another will spawn in – I thank Rostic for helping me with this.


    This server is a test so I want to hear all of your thoughts and feedback. Such as:
    * I have turned off CEM, but should I also turn off complex flight/ballistics physics?
    * Should I constrain the Red team to Allied aircraft and the Blue team to Axis aircraft?
    * Should I make a map run for x hours (or until an objective is fulfilled) and then switch over to a new map?
    * Should the server have chat commands to tell you when the next mission is starting or when the next enemy bomber group is going to spawn in? (If you know how to do this please provide an example.)

    I will try to run this server as much as I can (I will generally try to start it in the evening/night [I am GMT+10/11] and then manually stop it whenever I need to download any large files/updates [the next day]).
    Please note that your connection to the server may be bad, especially if you are in the EU/USA (your computer has to go through more "gateways" to get to my server). And if it rains here, the internet tends to slow down to a crawl for a few hours.

    Rules:
    Please look at the ATAG Server rules. If a rule below differs from the ATAG rules then take priority over the rule that I have.
    “Blitzkrieg – Instant Action” Server Rules:
    * Vulching/Perching is allowed but highly discouraged – at least by the chaps manning the AA guns at the Bomber airfields. There are air-spawns if you are unable to take off.
    * Intentional team-killing is not allowed. The only circumstance in which you are allowed to do so is if you and the another person have organised a duel… but both sides have access to the same aircraft, so I don’t see why you’d need to be on the same team.
    * Be aware that being in a “duel” does not keep you safe from the enemy team! If you are in the air you are a legitimate target for anyone that is not on your team!

    Without launching your server, and just reading your post, maybe also consider;

    Air spawn points (usually further back from the front lines).
    Padlock view (if it's about making it accessible).
    Mini map icon (so players can see where they are on the map).
    Absolutely keep realistic gunnery/ballistics
    Depending how far you want to go on making it available to everyone, consider no cockpit view/ icons on or off (player choice), and external (F2 view) with F6 enemy padlock available (Padlock next enemy).
    The last three would make it more arcade but it depends on how you feel

    Great idea, well done. Removing CEM will open it up to a lot of casual fliers who don't have the time to invest in learning everything, but would really want to just enjoy getting in the air. Nothing puts off a first time flyer quicker than going wheels up, hearing a bang and clatter, seeing the screen shake and the windscreen oil up....and having to start all over again.

    I would suggest one more thing. Include the big maps Tobruk and England/France. Just have us spawn at close distance. Doable over France and Tobruk

    How do you think I should implement map changing? Should it happen after x hours or after some objective has been achieved?

    Edit: I definitely will do a time-based approach; I forgot that the time of day changes over time. It is currently the middle of the night in the mission - we can't have that!

    I have set-up an AutoHotkey script that starts and stops the server via the WatchDog every 4 hours to avoid the missions from going into the night-time.

    I have also added a new mission to the roster (upon server restart the missions automatically cycle). The new mission is centred around Dunkirk but functions the same as the "Volcanic Isles" mission. I will add more missions over time.
    I think it would be good to have some missions that include content from the Tobruk DLC (and any future DLCs), but I don't want the majority of missions to require it as it means that people new to the sim (my main target audience for this server) will need to buy DLCs in order to play. I am thinking that 1 in 10 missions should contain DLC content (such as missions set on the Tobruk map, Channel missions with Spit.Vbs and 109F-4s, etc.,) but let me know if you think the number should be higher (such as 1 in 5).

    For starters I would just go with the dogfighting and see how things go then take some polls asking questions after a while. To me the mini maps are a bit boring or unrealistic is a better word.

    timeout 21600 exit
    That settings.cmd file is being load/run via this line in the file srcu:
