Pilots!
Team Fusion continues work on IL-2 Cliffs of Dover and we wanted to share some things we are working on with you. Firstly, thank you to the new round of Beta testers who were recently inducted into the internal testing group, your help is much appreciated.
Something that has received steady attention over the last few months is the Avro Lancaster. It will be part of the TF 6.5 DLC which is some way off, but we’re sure that many of you will be impressed by the current progress of our Lanc. Check out the fantastic work from our modelling team below!
Our map team has been building the new 1940 Channel map for the past year, and recently they have identified all the Atlantic Wall bunkers and locations to be implemented. The map hasn’t been split into two versions up to this point (1940 Channel map and 1942 Dieppe map) in case we need to add last-minute environmental changes such as radar installations, fixing imperfections in cliff faces, etc. This avoids duplicating the effort, so we try to make sure they are identical before the final stage. 90% of the work has been to identify what needs to change, and updating/improving the Channel map.
Our lead programmer has also released a new Beta version for testers. We have stripped down the maps piece by piece to identify the VR crash to desktop bugs. The solution is proving elusive but we persevere and the team is confident that it will be found sooner rather than later. We are also planning to merge the feature of managing controllers soon. This fixes the Steam Cloud issue and prevents the long-standing problem with losing bindings. It is ready, but we will wait for our lead programmer to come back from his time off to merge it.
Our main mission maker reports the following on the Battle of Britain day-by-day project:
“So far 468 individual sorties have been created between July 4th and August 8th 1940, representing RAF Fighter Command, Bomber Command and Coastal Command and Luftwaffe fighter and bomber forces. Every sortie is accessible to the player at any time. The player can choose to play each sortie in any order they wish in any present aircraft. You may also choose to explore and follow a particular squadron or gruppe, day-by-day as they participated in various actions. Each sortie is prefaced by news about yesterday's actions both over Britain and around the world for context. Weather is accurate and based on The Daily Weather Report prepared by the Air Ministry Meteorological Office four times daily from observations throughout the UK. The environment that you fly through has been researched and is accurate as possible”.
Additionally, we wanted to state that despite repeated efforts we have been unable to gain access to the Cliffs of Dover Steam page in order to reorganise it into something useful. We express our disappointment in this as we had aimed to respond to questions on the community section in an official capacity, but Fulqrum has not been responsive to this idea.
