Am I the only one with Steam COD that does not launch anymore ?

Hello,

Does anybody experience the same problem as I do?

It has been now a few day that I cannot launch COD from my steam library. The game just wont launch. I re-installed the whole thing emptied the cache memory etc... but nothing helped, the thing just wont start. It is fustrating for I was performing the last tweaks before considering to start a last end to end check before releasing a 38+ missions campaign that took me 2 about years to develop. RRRRRhh

I sent an email as instructed by the Steam platform to get some support but I havent had a reply yet. I am stuck.

I would appreciate some help as I am getting desperate.

I too have had the odd launch that won't launch from my desktop icons. Please try something out. Can you go to your install folder/directory. Usually under ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/il-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz and see if you can launch the Launcher64.exe file by double-clicking on it. Does that launch the game?

Can you please give more details on what happens when you start the game? Does it start and then dies? does it do nothing? any errors on screen or on the game logs?
Could it be some antivirus blocking it or something similar?

Maybe unrelated but since changing Launcher64.exe to run under Windows 7 compatibility mode as part of testing options to reduce crashing I found that CloD would not start first time after a reboot.

To resolve it I would either go into the Steam library and Stop CloD (it said it was launching) or kill Launcher64 in task manager.

It would then run fine until the next reboot.

OK then first please open Windows Settings
click on "Privacy & Security"
click on "Windows Security"
click on "Virus & threat protection"
click on "Manage settings"
click on "Manage Controlled folder access"
click on "Allow an app through Controlled folder access"
click on "YES" on the User Account Control popup
click on "+ Add an allowed app"
click on "Recently blocked apps"
if you see launcher64 there you can add it or otherwise
click on ""Browse all apps"
Navigate in the explorer popup to the appropriate app, in Steam or where ever you have copied it, "Launcher64.exe"
click on "Open"
launcher64 will appear to be added to the list of apps
Now try again to launch the game...

If this worked then we can conclude that:

The game was trying to access your Documents folder to store settings but access is denied since a recent windows update on your machine...

Hi,

I press the play Stem green button, it starts and does something for 3 seconds and my PC recognize that I started the game for the fan speed gets adjusted to the predefined setting for this game.

Steam shows the Stop blue button for a short while then the whole thing stops as if something failed to happen and I see the green play button back on my steam library as if I could launch the game. This cycle take approximately 4 to 5 seconds - Absolutely no error messages, nothing. You can press play as much as you wish - it fails.

I am hoping the error is on steam side and they are working to fix it, I suspect a late fix with a NVIDIA issue that might not work for me as I have a NVIDIA graphic card.

I am back on Silent Hunter now - working fine - but what a big frustration after two years developing a campaign I planned to share before VR...

Any suggestion?

Have you checked the folder access post above yours?

C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

Perhaps it contains an error we can work with.
