    Convergences and Loadouts in User.in

    User.ini is the file where all the convergences and loadout settings of each plane are stored. You can find it in C:\Users\YourName\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD
    Use Notepad++ to edit such files, it makes the work quite easier.


    If you just installed the game, there will not be much written in the user.ini. You will need to insert the planes which you want to set. To do so you have to create a new paragraph starting with the game-name of the plane, between brackets:

    Another way to do it is create a mission in FMB, create the type of plane you want to mess with, alter loadout setting as you want, and save the mission. When you will reopen the user.ini, the paragraph you want will be there, and you will then be able to quickly modify it from there.

    Only one preset available, so you' ll need to go to the file every time you want to change it. It' s pretty straightforward though. Convergences are in

    Same as above you can save different presets and choose one in loadout screen. If your plane is carrying different bomb types, it works like this:

    First number is fuse type. Second is minimum altitude (seems bugged with german fuses; will always be -1 no matter what). Third is delay.
    For example, with the sc-50 low level fuse, you can add another 14 secs to the existing delay, which will give:

    Or rather, it will only be available to those weapons/vehicles which used it.

    Ie. Panzer Mk I, MG34, and other Wehrmacht weapons. It was in very limited supply, (less than 1% of 7.92mm built was SmK(H) ) and not used by Luftwaffe.

    Hi Gringo, this was very useful thanks! One thing has me confused though.. in the 109 E-3 loadout screen there seems to be different munition types and they are repeating a lot as well. 0,3 & 4 are all Sprgr. Patr. L´Spur FF m.Zerl - 2cm Sprenggranatpatrone Leuchtspur FF

    Are these just the wrong names for the same 20mm shells as used in E-4?

    I guess you know that the E-3 canons are not the same as the E-4 ones (MG-FF vs MG-FF/M). They don' t use the same ammos also, so on the E-3, some of the munitions choices are just repeat, since you can not load the E-4 version.

    I know they're different canons, but I thought the MG FF had all the options except the M-Geshoss?

    This is what I see on my loadout screen:

    1=Panzer Phosphor
    2=Panzer Elektron
    3=Brandsprenggranate
    4=Brandgranate

    In other words if I choose a 1 4 loadout for my E-3 cannons will i get a panzer phospor and a brandgranate?

    I'm so confused because in this thread Little_D mentions:

    belt for both 20mm, ( all bullets have tracer ) :

    The 109 ammunition is a total mystery to me. I have been familiarising myself the 109 E-3 and E4's on Server 2 and would really appreciate a suggested loadout and convergence for both these ac.

    If someone would care to post their User.ini for the 109E-3 and E-4 (or PM me if its 'classified information' ) I would be most gratefull.

    I've always just used stock convergence, what is the actual best convergence to have using the 109? Is it better to have different convergence settings for cannon and MG?

    Incog Convergence it will always be a personnal thing. It depends of combat style mainly. For a tumb rule i use nose guns on 109 ranged at distance, ie, 500 meters (as there is almost no convergence on those 2 guns - 1 & 2) and close distance convergence on wing guns, for cannon, around 150 meters. Thats where i feel them more lethal - anything would be at that range i guess. But i do that to get make myself conservative on wing guns, making really short bursts. I aim for 2 shells shot only when i use the cannons, trying to save ammo. Most times i achieve that.

    EDIT: Lolsav replied whilst I was typing this.

    Incog, according to the video, convergence for the nose guns (due to their closeness) can be set for a much longer distance than wing guns. I am trying the suggested 500 H 400 V for nose guns and 300 H 400 V for wing guns.

    I seem to remember Mk.MrX using a extremely high Horizontal distance setting, you might want to search for his Video thread on the 1c forum as some of the posts were asking about his gun set up.

    It seems to be pretty a standard 150/400 setting on the cannons, but what is interesting he also sets his machine guns to 150!!

    EDIT: if you watch his videos it is definitely 150 horizontal and not vertical - just in case someone reads the thread and gets confused by the horizontal/vertical bug.

    I still see the SMKH in the ammunition screen. Did TF remove it in 4.312 or not?
    Uebungsmunition mit Zerleger has been nerfed with the last patch but i can't find anything about it in the readme.

    Yeah 0 and 1 give you SMK now. SMKH was removed.

    I would guess the unpleasantness is borne of frustration. I use/tweak my user.ini file frequently, so your OP was very understandable to me and a very handy reference in listing the code numbers for the different ammo types.

    Those who are new to Cliffs of Dover no doubt find the scripting in the ini files quite unintelligible at first. What some don't understand is that you basically have done all the work -- a simple "copy, paste, and save" of your OP script would get them started with a good basic loadout & convergences which can be then be later tweaked and adjusted to suit one's preference for each aircraft type.

    These loadout and convergence changes can all be made in the ingame GUI, like most players do, but it's slow and painstaking compared to just editing the user.ini file. Probably the best advice to new players is to have them make desired changes in their loadouts and convergences for their various aircraft in the GUI, do a "Save As" under a unique name (ie "Snapper bomber buster load"), then exit Cliffs of Dover and open the user.ini file and see how those loadout changes actually got saved. That might provide an "aha! moment" when a new pkayer would realize "so THAT'S what ElGringo was on about!"
