    never mind, got it now;

    To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista™ or Windows 7:

    Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
    At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"
    Restart the computer.

    To disable the 3GB switch:
    Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
    At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa"
    Restart the computer.

    32 Bit version of Windows doesnt recognize more memory than 2 Gig. You need to tell windows theres more inside And, even if you have more than 3 gig it will only recognize 3 as maximum.

    Phil, you're fabulous! I had run across this solution a couple of years ago associated with another sim, but had not implemented it. I was getting very frustrated with CloD and its habitual launcher crashes and stutters. This single command has turned CloD into a stable and enjoyable experience. I heartily recommend that anyone running 32-bit Windows and up to 4GB of RAM take a few moments and see what a difference it can make.

    Re: Win7 large address aware

    This is weird because I apparently used Phil's edit and it worked to fix my stutter issues in 2013. Now, after having built a newer, faster machine, I'm trying to get CloD to work as well as it did on my older, slower machine and I'm combing the forums to see what I might have missed. I thought maybe this cmd line fix might be the key, but every time I enter the prescribed command, I get a response saying, "bcedit 3072 is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file". I tried typing it with variations on spacing such as "bcedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" (without the quotation marks), bcedit/set IncreaseUserVa 3072", "bcedit/setIncreaseUserVa 3072", "bcedit/set IncreaseUserVa 3072", all with the same resulting cmd response. I even tried not hitting "enter" at the end of the command line entry and just restarting the computer, but I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

    Doh! Boy, do I have chicken embryo all over my face. I reread Phil's post and I had left out a crucial letter "d". Instead of reading "bcdedit", no wonder my attempt was unsuccessful. I was trying it with bcedit. Senior moments come at the most unwelcome times.
