I just got this on Steam a few days ago and it crashes the second I launch it. I have tried compatibility mode and admin and it hasn't done anything but crash. It says il2fb.exe has stopped working!! Please help!

    What are your system specs?

Have you applied all the Team Fusion patches in the correct order (3.00, 3.01, 4.0)?

Have you tried all the fixes for common issues in this thread?

Not sure about this one....Many of us here use to play il2 for many years but I for one have not come across this problem before....Try to re-install it?...IL2 1946 is very cheap in steam now (£2.99) so if you really want to fly it and you are still having problems you could buy this version which is the complete version of the game and install it from Steam...The benefit there is that if you have any issues with a disc you do not have the same problem if you get it from Steam as a download...

Once you get up and running...then try this post for helpful programs ..

No I did not install any mods I am trying to launch just IL2 1946 and it will not start.
As for my specs, I have Windows 7 64 bit and an FX-8350 @4.4GHz and an HD 7950 and 8 gigs of RAM and yeah that's all the important stuff.

That is the version I got, it was on sale and I bought it on Steam, installed it, and it crashes the MOMENT I hit play.

Weird. I have the DVD version, it's the same thing though, and it runs under Win7 64 Bit just fine. Never had this problem. Without knowing anything else I would guess your install got corrupted. Try running a verify integrity in Steam so it repairs your installation.

Hmmm...I think I would first verify installation....

    1) Open Steam
    2) Click on Library
    3) Click on 'all games'
    4) Right click the game you want to veryify
    5) Click 'Properties'
    6) Click 'Local Files'
    7) Click 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...'

If that doesn't work I would delete game and re-install it from Steam....
