Air Combat Group - Allied and Axis pilots interested in immersion and group flying

If you fly RAF or Luftwaffe in full switch, or would like to fly full switch then give us a shout. We're a laid back group where immersion and enjoyment is primary. We are of various nations in the European and North American timezones and communicate in English (to various standards) and German.

We run "Kenley Wing" operating Hurricanes from No.615 "County of Surrey" Squadron and No.111 (Fighter) Squadron supported by the daring Spitfires of No.64 Squadron. To complete the RAF we operate "Biggin Hill Wing" with No.501 "County of Gloucester" Squadron and No.32 Squadron on Hurricanes with Spitfires from No.610 "County of Chester" Squadron.

You don't have to be an ace, we are welcoming to all standards even if you've never flown before and can't yet start your engine. Training will be provided to get you flying and enjoying our activities via 6 OTU before posting to a squadron (largely based on your preferred type).

Our Luftwaffe operates as II./Gruppe and III./Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 26 "Schlageter", the Abbeville boys and the 'natural enemy' of Kenley and Biggin Hill Wings using the Bf109 fighter. We also have a committed Zerstorer staffel in 6./ZG26 performing intruder raids in the Bf-110 heavy fighter. Our staffeln cater for German and English speakers though 6./ZG26 is purely English language.

We are frequently engaged in CoD fielding many pilots on both Allied and Axis. We gather regularly and fly together at altitude on the public servers available and regularly fly our own historical immersion based campaigns in our private server. When ACG form for these missions we are packed in the server from our factions plus large raids of AI bombers. These are not empty squadrons/staffeln, we operate according to historical numbers. At time of writing there are over 120 active pilots in ACG and growing.

All of these squadrons make up Air Combat Group and our goal is to have both factions fighting historically but remaining good friends, there IS a place for you. If you would like to know what we expect from members please read here:
    http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/foru...php?f=3&t=1086

We operate a Teamspeak 3 server at 85.236.100.27:16317, please come in at anytime. Our new website is at http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk with all the information about us, our forums and a flight school if you want to know more. Please post freely (registration not required for guests).

Finally, if you just fancy flying with us then please come in, we are a public group for general activities.

Hope that's not too much reading, if you are interested just jump into our comms or make a post on our forums or shout at any of our members online

ACG crews are gearing up for a new campaign this weekend. We are particularly interested in Hawker Hurricane pilots or people who wish to fly this type, we have vacancies within the group and are keen to hear from you whatever your standard

Wenn Sie einen deutschen Sprecher sind, dann können wir 6./JG26 bieten unter der Bf109 da diese Mannschaft ist in der deutschen Sprache, neue Piloten immer willkommen.

Yes he seems to have found a home! It suits him because they are all fluent German speakers, sometimes it's nice just to be in the channel and listen, and imagine the scenes of 1940 from the German side!

Done! Just remember I think that's your new login name as well, but I could be wrong.

Might have been one of No.501, we hit your bomb group but were jumped by the Bf110 escorts which we hadn't spotted! Damned Hun!

Re: Air Combat Group - Allied and Axis pilots interested in immersion and group flyin

ACG threw over 30 pilots onto the ATAG server last night (Sunday), we had a single new guy with us, trying us out, and he gave us this feedback which I would like to share. He refers to the RAF side, we had II Gruppe of JG26 doing the same thing from Marquise, there were 16 pilots in that flight.

As one of the new guys I thought I'd take a moment to tell of my experience Sunday October 13th on the ATAG server.
With a FULL server the stage was set for great moments. Sort of

As a new guy it can be a bit intimidating to throw yourself on Teamspeak, and I felt as new and green as was to be expected.
Starting up engines on Eastchurch along the others, the first thing I do is to run my poor old spit into a ditch, before even reaching the taxi way. What a wonderful start

oh well, better get a new plane then.

All around, Hurris and Spits were rolling along the taxiways. My hands were shaking on the controller as the regulars threw humourus insults to eachother while rolling into place, ready for take off. It felt like a time machine. With the canopy open the roar of the merlins and the radio chatter it felt like being part of something awesome.

After Kenley Wing had taken up start up positions, Osprey told us to get a move on before we would all get strafed. Once we all (How many? 12-14?) - [EDIT, not full strength but 15 RAF today, mostly No.64 and No.501 Squadrons, a couple from No.615] started rolling together down the runway, I had more adrenalin than most other games can ever hope to provide.

It was a magnificent sight. Forming up we headed for Kent, picking up a straggler joining the party from Manston. As this magnifenct war party approached Dover, there came a call on the radio; "Bombers, three o'clock! Tally Ho!". Jesus I thought. I am reliving the Battle of Britain.. We took up positions, I readied myself for my baptism of fire and then....

The power went down. On my whole block....

I guess I don't have to tell you about the ensuing rage that occurred. Use your imagination.

My point is, all that I experienced was the kick off, I missed the entire party (I got about 30 mins later- chasing Huns over the French point, followed a 109 that fell into a spin and ripped my wing clean off before bailing) byt nevertheless- it was a rush like no other!

To any newcomer or lurker out there; forget about War Thunder, Il2 Bos or DCS 44. If you want 40's prop action, THIS IS the place to go! And with the TF patch 4.0 lurking, it can only get better

Thanks to all the guys in Kenley Wing for tips and advice!

    Great read Osprey.

I love reading these types of stories from newer players. Sounds like he was sweating bullets and loving every bit of it.

Re: Air Combat Group - Allied and Axis pilots interested in immersion and group flyin

I admit I had no idea, we just lined up as usual, we've all done it so many times before but it's always fun - the banter between the squadrons prior to take off is hilarious . I guess that anybody who hasn't before and it used to taking off alone has no experience of that massive roar from a full squadron though so it's nice to hear feedback in that perspective. We have to set up our aeroplanes correctly too (according to the manual of course!) because otherwise we'll move at different speeds and prang.

I'd like to now know if the experience is the same from our Luftwaffe though, I may have to join them

It is entirely different on our side of the Channel , before take off we all congregate at one end of the runway around a large bonfire , before us will be a large table with our Staffelführer standing behind it.
We then all don our black and red cloaks and skull masks and start to rotate around the table holding burning torches . Our Staffelführer then climbs onto the table and is handed a ceremonial dagger and a fresh Blutwurst, he proceeds to cut up the sacrificial sausage whilst we all chant oaths to the "Gods of war and Sausage makers worldwide"
We then all line up and step forward to receive a slice of the anointed Wurst, armed with this electrifying and powerful shield of Blood we then make our way to our machines safe in the knowledge that we have been blessed by the "Almighty Wurst of War" . Before take off we listen to this song over the areodrome tannoy system http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=req-oDf2ZRc safe in the knowledge that once again
we are on the hunt and "We will give them the Axe"
On return its Schnapps and shnitzels all round and iron crosses and what not off fat Herman
So as you can see its slightly different over here on the dark side but remember Kameraden

Damnit Osprey - we need some Cumberland sausage introduced to our warm-up procedures. Either that or a sinister Morris Dance and a warm beer bath.

On a good day you can still hear the rumble of the Merlin flying overhead.

Ehhh... I wish to feel again such emotions... It was so long ago when I flew my first "front war" mission.

    But.

I dissagree only with one point....

    "Forget about IL-2: BoS"

In WWII 1 kill on west was worth 3 on east. In virtual skies its completly reversed...

    p.s.
Osprey, did you checked BoS forum ? I think few LG would be ready to participate in campaign but I cant use ACG forum.

You need to go to SOW forums Blakky http://www.stormofwar.net/, we're not running a multisquadron competitive 'war' campaign. Ours will be an internal historical immersion campaign and we haven't started it just yet, still preparing.
