Well, we did it. We now have a Facebook page

If you'd like to pop along and like the page and tell your Facebook friends about it we'd really appreciate it

Hopefully this will spread the word through some aviation sim communities and maybe generate new interest

Facebook! Yeah. The best invention on the planet. You get almost constant, realtime updates on what your kids, their mates and their mates cat are doing and all without the need for any sort of face to face communication. I don't mess with it myself just get the juicy bits on a need to know basis from the wife. Perfect.

I'm on Facebook and on Twitter. Most of my friends are not. They all say the same thing, they don't care what so-and-so had for lunch, went for a dump, etc. These same friends can't understand why I spent what I did on a PC "just to read email".

So there ya go.

The Facebook page just gives us another physical presence in another media area in which to add interest to CloD. It's not for everyone we know, but the thing is, f you don't move with the times, you stagnate and die....we don't want that for CloD and so it's a way of stimulating interest.

BTW, only Team Fusion post on the page...so you will only see.me and some shredded wheat at worst....and not the ones in a compromising situation

Relax chaps, no-one is taking anything away from here, we are just trying to bring in new blood and interest. It's amazing how many new players and forum users there have been in the last couple of months. Most say, "I was just browsing Youtube" or " a friend told me about this"......all FB does is gives us another avenue in which to capture new interest and players

I am no Facebook specialist but as far as I see it: you (fully?) can access the TF page without the need to have a Facebook account.
Only such functionality like commenting on posts is restricted.

From now on, I will just check the forum AND the Facebook page for TF news regularly.

What DUI said

Basically if you have a Facebook account you can 'like' the page and then you get automatic notifications on your Facebook when we post something. Otherwise you can just bookmark the page in your web browser and pop by to see what we are saying about the rest of you

I don't and never had FB for my own reasons but I think this is a great idea to attract more players.

I have no idea how it works, but would it be possible to get in contact with War Thunders FB page and try to have a link to yours MysticPuma? When I saw your page I got curious about WT and googled their page. They have over 185,000 "likes".

Couldn't you become friends or whatever with them and have a link there, I see that as a potential traffic jam when people there want to expand their flying horizons.

Just a thought.

I am waiting to finish my trailer like video since I want the new eye candy from 4.02 but I know there are many awesome videos out there, maybe a link to an unofficial/TF mod trailer would help too.

I believe the real purpose will be to draw new people here. It all takes time.....get our FB page mentioned on other FB pages, like PC Pilots's FB page and a new following will grow. There are also a lot of military FB pages that might draw in new people. Modern marketting, though most of us here hate it!

I did not mean to sound too negative in my post. I'm sure the Facebook page is very well done and a good contribution to the community. As many of us here, I just have elected not to share my whole life on the social media sites, A lot of time which is wasted and better filled by other endeavors, such as playing CL OD. I'm sure it will appeal to a number of fans of a specific generation. Facebook is also fairly well-known as a source of viruses malware Trojans and other things you just don't want on your PC. Might it be an idea to add some information to the "About us" text (currently: "The official Facebook page of Team Fusion, Il2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Modding Group"): Especially a link to the TF section of this forum but maybe also a short sentence about what you guys are doing (i.e. improving CloD with new patches which are free to download.).

I know that your first two posts were about this forum and your intentions. But over time with more and more posts published this info will be hard to find. For someone who has not heard of TF (and maybe CloD) before it might be handy to get this kind of info right away.
